After that first week loss to the Packers, the Detroit Lions seem to have gotten losing out of their system. Last week they had the blowout win against Chicago, and last night they were able to edge out the Baltimore Ravens 38 to 30. I'll be honest, I didn't stay up to watch the game at all. I was up around 10:30 PM or so dealing with some pain in my foot after having surgery on it and I noticed that the Lions were up 28 to 20 or something like that. There was still a lot of game left to be played, so I went back to sleep hoping they would be able to hold onto the lead.

This morning when I woke up, I was happy to see that was the case. Apparently this is the first time they have won in Baltimore in quite some time, so there should be a lot of happiness in the "mitten state" this week.

I did get the chance to watch some football on Sunday this past weekend. I probably should have been out mowing the lawn, but since a nice late summer rain storm decided to push through, the grass was too wet for me to get out there and tend to it. Darn!

Instead, I sat on the couch and watched the Bears basically dismantle the Cowboys while I was reading my latest book in the Orphan X series "Prodigal Son".

Buffalo had a nice win on Thursday night taking down Miami 31 to 21. That puts Buffalo at the top of the AVC East with three wins and zero losses on the season now. They share that record with Indianapolis, and the Chargers. On Sunday Jacksonville beat Houston 17 to 10, Carolina had a huge win over Atlanta 30 to 0, and Washington beat The Raiders 41 to 24. That's dang impressive that The Panthers held The Falcons scoreless. With kickers hitting field goals from 60+ yards in the current league, a shut out is virtually unheard of.

I'm shocked and impressed all at the same time.

This season so far has been one of "almosts" for the Jets and that continued this past weekend with their two point loss to Tampa Bay 29 to 27. Philly took down The Rams 33 to 26, and Aaron and the Steelers snagged another win 21 to 14 over New England.

Minnesota stole the ball from Cincinnati more times than I can count and ended up beating them 48 to 10. As I said, Indy remains 3-0 with their 41 to 20 win over Tennessee, and Cleveland had a huge win over the Packers 13 to 10. Well done Browns! Now Green Bay, Minnesota, and Detroit all have at least one loss on the season. Sadly that still holds the Lions in third place in the NFC North, but I expect that won't last long.

Seattle hammered The Saints 44 to 13, the Chargers beat Denver 23 to 20, and San Francisco barely topped the Cardinals 16 to 15. As I said, Chicago made a mockery of Dallas 31 to 14, Kansas City got their first win of the season over the Giants 22 to 9, and the Lions did what Lions do.

Philadelphia, Tampa Bay, and San Francisco remain the only undefeated teams in the NFC, but lets be honest. With Tampa Bay, Carolina, Atlanta, and New Orleans in the NFC South, it's basically a gimme for the Buc's. Sorry if you are a fan of one of those other teams...
