Best Text Message Ever!

Before I dig into the heart of this post, I want to give you an update on the baseball and softball action from last night. Shocker that the Tigers wouldn't be able to keep their win streak alive. They lost to the Guardians (Cleveland) 3 to 2 yesterday in their day game.

Likewise, my nieces high school game didn't go very well either. They were in the bottom of the 5th inning and the opposing team (who was the home team) but up enough runs to institute the run rule. Basically if your team is up by 10 or more runs going into the 6th inning, they call the game. Different leagues and tournaments have different run rules, but they all have some version of it.

She still had a good game even though her team did not. That seems to be the case a lot this season. I am just glad she is getting time on the field so she can be ready to go when summer ball comes around.

Anyway, with that game stream shut off and softball done for the night, I was laying in bed getting ready to go to sleep when my phone suddenly went off. Afraid it would wake @mrsbozz, I quickly switched it to silent and checked my text messages.

I had a message that went something like this:

"Did you used to play disc golf?".

It was from my oldest niece who is in college. I explained to her that I still play, just not as much as I would like to. She replied back that she was currently playing with some friends from college and "it is so fun".

I can't argue with her there. We went on to have a pretty lengthy conversation about disc golf and the different aspects of it.

I think a lot of her joy with the game probably has to do with the people she is playing it with. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to get out and play a round with her though.

Her younger sister just recently got into vinyl records which is another hobby of mine. It has been really cool to connect with her over our love of vinyl and music in general.

Having something like disc golf that I can really connect with her older sister over would be super cool.

I'm hoping that I can get out more this summer and play a bit more regularly than I have been lately. There was a time when I went out pretty much every day an threw a round or two. We all know how life can get in the way of things like that and I had to back off from the game for a bit.

They recently put a new course in just around the corner from where I live and I am itching to try it out. I need to hit the disc golf store and get some more discs. I haven't bought any new ones in quite some time and I want to talk to the guy there about how I throw and what discs might be a good fit for me.

If you have never played before, you probably didn't know that. There are different style and weight of discs that do different things depending on how you throw them. Finding the best fit for you can improve your game by several strokes.

Anyway, I am looking forward to having some more conversations with my niece about disc golf. As I said, I'd love to play a round with her sometime as well. It might not be as fun as playing with her college friends, but sometimes just getting out on the course is enough!

I need to go play too. I didn’t go once last year. I’ll have to hit some rounds during lunch this year.

I only went a handful of times last year. It makes me sad because I do so enjoy it. Sometimes it is hard to get my schedule to work with my buddies. It's always more fun to play in a group. Well, most of the time.

I would not mind playing again some time. There are some courses in the UK, but the nearest is maybe an hour away.

It's one of my favorite things to do. You should download the udisc app. If a new one pops up, it will be on there.

I haven't seen anything like this in Australia yet, but I did see a feature about this on ESPN I think it was. It was so interesting and I think there could even be a college league of some sort??!

There is a professional association. Just like the PGA for regular golf. It is pretty awesome. You can work your way into tournaments and everything.
