Bozz Family Fantasy Football Week 14 Recap: It was fun while it lasted...

Fantasy Football (1).png

Well, it was fun while it lasted I guess. This week starts the playoffs in my family fantasy football league and I find myself sitting at the top of the consolation bracket. I will still try to manage my team, but as of now there really isn't much point.

"If you're not first, you're last"

Truer words were never spoken. The good news is, @mrsbozz finds herself in second place by some fabulous miracle. I'd like to say that I had a hand in that, but I really can't take any of the credit. I did have to make some strategic player swaps for her, but that is pretty trivial.

It basically goes something like this: She throws her smart phone at me and says "help" or "I don't know what to do, my one player is on bye and the other player is hurt". Something like that :)

This was the game I needed to win this season. If I had been playing any other team and my niece had been playing any other team I might have made it in. Unfortunately, the two of us in 6th and 7th place were going head to head.

As I mentioned, I needed the win over her to squeak into the playoffs, but it just wasn't meant to be. I had a good feeling about this season when they had me move the playoffs from four teams to six teams. That gave me a glimmer of hope. I honestly should have known my season was over right at the beginning when Brady was selected as my starting quarter back. I should have dropped him and went a different direction right from the get go.

Actually, I had a really bad feeling about this week when the Thursday night game happened and my tight end that I was playing ended up getting zero points. Not a great way to start your week. It was all downhill from there. I pretty much knew I was done for when I flipped to the Tampa Bay/San Francisco game and I saw it was the fourth quarter and the Bucs hadn't scored single point yet.

Whoever had San Fran as their defense had to have a pretty good game I am guessing.

Let's break it down:

Brady is crap. There are so many expletives that I want to use right now, but this is a family friendly blog so I am going to refrain. Just imagine every cuss word you have ever heard strung together and that is probably what I am thinking about Brady right now.

Once again I had a wide receiving corp that couldn't put up more than 4 points a piece. Higgins didn't even put up any points. Talk about a disappointment. Looking at these stats, I had zero chance of winning this past week.

My Running backs continued to shine, but it wasn't enough to put me where I needed to be. I should mention that Williams was the lone bright spot in my line up as far as receivers are concerned. He was down in my flex spot though and it was a sheer stroke of luck that I even played him.

I think it was honestly for lack of having anyone better to play sadly. My bench is looking pretty rough as you will see in a second.

Gano didn't have many opportunities to score for me and Denver did decent on defense. It honestly wouldn't have taken much for me to push past my niece in this contest, but a handful of my players falling short turned the tide.

I'm not honestly sure what I am going to do differently next year. I know I need to do something though. Perhaps I should start keeping a Google Doc that has all of the top players or average players from this year. That might give me a good idea of who to pick going into next year.

I definitely have some people I want to keep my eye on.

None of them are on my bench! My whole bench put up a whopping 4 points. How sad is that!

I will still give you updates until things are finished, but the focus will likely be less on my team and more on my wife's team from this point forward. It might be a little tough next week since both her and I have byes this week.

Wish us luck as we push into these final weeks of the season! I know who I'm cheering for!

I'm going to be too busy cheering for the Lions. Actually, I think my wife has the Chicago QB on her fantasy team. He put up some killer points when she played against me the other weekend.
