Bozzlife: College basketball recap even though I didn't watch basketball

Well, it has definitely been an exciting past couple of days in the world of college basketball. Only two of the fifteen or so games that were played ended up being cancelled or postponed. I think that is a pretty decent ratio.

#19 Clemson was taken into overtime by unranked North Carolina State two nights ago. Clemson won the game by four points, but still. I think we should remember the Wolfpack, they could find themselves in the top 25 at some point.

In other upset news, Mississippi State is another unranked team that had a win on Tuesday night. They took down #13 Missouri. I mentioned this in one of my past posts, but I am happy to see that the upsets are continuing on into this season.

In the most important news of the night, the Michigan State Spartans who were knocked down to 23 in the polls due to their early conference play performance had a huge win against #15 Rutgers. It was a decisive victory and more of what I would expect from a team with their talent.

I hope they can take this momentum and carry forward through the remainder of the season. It is going to be a tough road for sure.

I honestly didn't watch any college basketball the past two nights. Tuesday night I was watching the streams of my nieces basketball games down in Ohio. I love that many schools have implemented this technology. It is nice to be able to watch their games without having to drive four hours. Plus since I am sitting in the safety of my home I can swear at the refs without getting kicked out!

Wednesday night I was busy watching the events unfold at the capitol in Washington DC. Pretty disgraceful stuff I am afraid.

There were some basketball games on. Some good ones at that.

Unranked Louisville took #19 Virginia Tech right down to the wire and upset them by two points 73 to 71. Duke sitting in unfamiliar territory at #21 was almost beaten by unranked Boston College. BC could be one of those bubble that just make it into the tournament and actually make it a couple of rounds before getting knocked out.

All of the other games went about as you would expect.

In tournament news, it sounds like they are actually going to hold it this year. In the past they have split the first couple of rounds of the playoffs into four or six (I don't remember) sites spread across the country. This year due to the Covid pandemic they are holding all of the games in Indiana.

Teams will be quarantined during the tournament and the games will be played at a variety of locations from the arena at Butler to Assembly Hall in Bloomington on the UI campus.

As long as they are giving them the chance to play, that is all I care about. We should see some pretty epic matchups this year. There are going to be a lot of teams hungry from their missed chance last year when the tournament was cancelled.

I got a little chuckle out of that. Back when my family members were still school aged I think I enjoyed watching their games more than pro sports anyway.

On another note in all the high school or below games that I have ever seen I have only ever seen one person that actually got kicked out. He deserved it and was a real disgrace to his son that was playing in the game... I presume you have seen the film Hoosiers?
