Bozzlife: NCAA Top 25 Basketball Recap

I have been pretty lax this week when it comes to keeping up with college basketball. We have had a lot going on and home, and the one game that I actually cared about ended up getting cancelled.

Michigan State got on a charter jet and flew all the way to Virginia only to find out that the game was being cancelled because of Covid concerns. In fact about four or five of the games in the ACC/Big 10 challenge ended up getting cancelled because the colleges down south can't seem to keep themselves healthy.

I am a bit concerned about the season especially with the likes of Coach K from Duke suggesting that they stop the season. It could be another really sucky spring if they don't get a handle on things.

There was a single top 25 game this past Monday and it was five point win by Richmond over Wofford. Wofford is not a stranger to the top 25, so it is possible they could see themselves on the leaderboard again with a few small adjustments.

Tuesday saw two cancelled games, one of them being #1 Gonzaga and the other #2 Baylor. The games were both against pretty insignificant opponents, but it is still interesting that both the #1 and #2 teams get to assumingly maintain their positions.

The number of Big 10 teams in the top 25 this year is pretty high. On top of that, the number of Big 10 teams in the top 10 is even more impressive.

Illinois at #6 is something I didn't see coming. Is it possible the "Orange Crush" is back? They certainly laid the hammer down on Duke. Penn state isn't ranked yet, but with a win over #15 Virginia Tech, they will probably be there soon.

Iowa at #3? What is this world coming to? They easily handled #16 North Carolina too, this is totally nuts!

The most notable game of Tuesday to me is the #5 Kansas versus #8 Creighton game. It was a close game with a one point margin. I think that is something to remember for later in the season. If we make it that far...

I was under the impression my Michigan State game was cancelled. I see now that they are saying it is postponed. Who knows how that will all shake out.

Houston at #7 also had their game postponed. Two other games were completely cancelled, sorry Volunteers and Mountaineers.

No notable upsets on Wednesday. In fact, all of the games were won by 10 points or more with the exception of the Indiana, Florida State game. That one went into overtime and FSU only one by a bucket. I think it is safe to say The Hoosiers will soon find themselves in the top 25 one way or another.

Last night saw one cancelled game and a battle of the bottom with #23 and #24 going head to head. San Diego State came away with the upset. If I remember right, they were getting hot right before things got cancelled last year, so it might be a good idea to keep an eye on SDSU.

Many games this weekend have already been cancelled or postponed. While not every coach agrees with Coach K, it may end up not being up to the coaches what happens with the season. I really hope they make it to conference play, because some of these Big 10 games are going to be epic.

Gonzaga has cancelled 4 games right now, they have one (bench) player and one staff member actively sick. The Baylor game is ppd, I would be really surprised if that's not played. Both teams want to play the game pretty badly. It's a really good time to see what you really have and December is the time for it.

Over 3000 people per day are dying in the US. It might be time to consider cancelling to the tourney which will most likely be played in a single site in a bubble situation.
