Bozzlife: Pre New years College Hoops Recap

After a brief break on Sunday this past weekend, college basketball started back up on Monday.

Apparently, my Michigan State Spartans had a game and I totally didn't realize it. The good news is, they sucked so bad that it is probably good that I didn't watch the game.

Michigan State is going to be lucky to stay in the top 25 at the pace they are going. They have failed to win a single Big 10 conference game so far this year. At 0 and 3 in conference play, it is hard to believe that they are the same team I thought had a chance at making the final four.

The sad thing is, they really are a good team. I really can't put my finger on what the breakdown is. I am not even sure Coach Izzo can at this point. Although it is a long season, they are running out of time. Two more losses in a row and they might be lucky to even make it to the big dance in March.

It does make me feel a little better to see that #6 Wisconsin was upended by unranked Maryland, but since the Badgers beat the Spartans, that probably doesn't help my team too much.

Gonzaga continues their win streak with a yawner 30 point of a win over Northern Arizona.

Yesterday Texas had their game against Texas A&M Corpus Christi cancelled, but several other games did take place.

Three games really stand out to me as being pretty significant.

The first was Miami only losing to Virginia Tech by one point. Even though VaTech isn't ranked super high, it is still impressive that an unranked team made them work for it. I wouldn't be shocked to see Miami bounce in and out of the top 25 at some point this season.

Unranked Clemson took out #18 Florida State by 10 points. I am going to label this one as a fluke. I know the Seminoles haven't been exactly consistent this season, but when they are good, they are really good.

Finally, we have unranked Tulsa beating #5 Houston by one point. I kind of wish I had watched that game. It looks like it was pretty exciting.

Today we have four games on tap. If I had to pick only one to watch, it would be the Tennessee/Missouri game. Both teams are ranked and both have a 6-0 record. This could be a really good game.

Gonzaga and Baylor continue to dominate the teams they are facing. Is anyone going to be able to stop them?
