Bozzlife: Weekly NCAA Hoops Wrapup

It was a pretty boring week for me as far as basketball goes. My Michigan State Spartans are still out of action due to covid. The fact they have dropped out of the top 25 doesn't bug me too much. While they probably haven't been able to practice much, I hope they are taking this time off to reflect and really decide if they want to make it to the NCAA tournament or not. It is going to be a hard road if they decide they do.

Monday saw two games with unranked St. John's taking down #23 UConn. That doesn't surprise me too much. UConn hasn't been that great this season and St. John's isn't a new comer to the top 25.

I didn't watch it, but I heard the Baylor game was pretty interesting. Apparently the odd were a nine point spread. At the last minute Kansas sunk a three pointer to close the gap and Baylor didn't cover the spread. So despite the win, many Baylor fans lost big if they had bets on the team.

Sports gambling officially becomes legal in my state today, so all of this sort of stuff will probably become much more relevant to me now.

Tuesday saw one game postponed and seven games played. It was probably one of the most active nights in college basketball this week.

Unranked Purdue took down #15 Ohio State and I can't say I am too sad about that. It was probably quite the shock after their big upset win over Illinois last weekend. I thought I heard the entire state of Ohio crying a bit that night...

The upsets continued with unranked Florida beating my backup team #6 Tennessee. With only 49 points scored, they got destroyed and I have to guess it was just a really off night for them or a really on night for Florida. Either way, I expect them to bounce back.

Two other notable games on Tuesday are the Alabama/LSU game with the Crimson Tide putting up a whopping 105 points on their rival and handing them a 30 point loss. Yikes! Seton Hall who is unranked nearly snatched a victory from #3 Villanova. It was only a two point shot that decided the game. Way to keep it close Pirates!

Wednesday could have been chuck full of action, but seven of the games were postponed. Providence who is out of the top 25 beat #11 Creighton by two points, Georgia Tech (also unranked) took down #20 Clemson. The other two games wen about the way you would expect them.

Thursday gave us two games an the most exciting was probably the convincing win unranked Indiana had over #4 Iowa. When you put all your hopes on one player, something is going to fall through the cracks. I have a feeling that might be the case with Iowa. I have no doubt they will bounce back, but the Big 10 just seem really competitive this year.

Tonight gives us a single game and I am hoping that Purdue can repeat their upset performance against U of M. It would be great to see Michigan get knocked down another peg.

That's all I've got. Check back next week for a recap of all the weekend action.

It's all about the Big East!

As for Seton Hall, they are akin to rivals to my Villanova. Those games tend to be tense and often close.

Unranked Purdue took down #15 Ohio State

I celebrate all OSU losses ever since the football scandal that I think was in 2011 where they were paying their players with tattoos. Good grief.
