Bracketology!
There you go, that's the winning bracket. Just remember when you win all that money where you got it from! Actually, I'm not really sure I am 100% happy with this bracket. There is something about it that just has me on edge a bit.
I don't know if it is the fact that I have UConn winning it all since they just won last year or if it is the fact I have Tennessee in the finals. Then again, it could be the fact that I have Michigan State losing to North Carolina in the second round.
Shame on me and my lack of faith in the Green and White!
I was sitting in the living room last night at 6:00 PM watching the selection Sunday show and I thought to myself "oh man, this is going to be easy". Then I started filling in my bracket and I realized it was going to be anything but.
First, let's go back and talk about how we got to this point.
In the Big Ten on Friday, we saw Michigan State fall to Purdue in what was actually a really close game. I'd like to give a big shout out to Sparty for only losing by five points. I have a feeling that is part of the reason they were able to snag a 9 seed in the national tournament.
Wisconsin beat Northwestern, Illinois beat Ohio State, and Nebraska downed Indiana.
Then on Saturday, Wisconsin stunned Purdue in overtime by one point and Illinois handled Nebraska. Finally, on Sunday night, Illinois outlasted Wisconsin to win the conference championship.
There was some crazy action in the other conferences too, but I am not going to cover all of that here.
Instead, let's get back to my bracket.
I feel like it has been harder than ever to fill out a bracket. So many good teams are in the tournament this year and there were so many ups and downs through the season, you never know who is going to rise to the occasion and who is going to choke.
I'm actually surprised by a handful of teams that didn't make it into the bracket at all. I expected there to be more Big East teams playing. I even thought Ohio State or another Big 10 team might actually squeak in somehow.
I thought about doing a women's bracket this year, but I honestly haven't watched enough to really know what I am talking about. Most of my commentary on the men's side of things is mostly made up as well.
If you know me, you now that I am really not an expert in anything!
I talk a good talk though, or more accurately, I write a good write.
