Cramming it all in

I'm getting ready to take a bit of a road trip so I am going to try and cram a whole lot of stuff into this one post. I know, you probably don't know what to do with yourself without a Friday post from my sports account, but trust me, I think you will live.

Last night @mrsbozz and I got to watch our niece play one of her last volleyball games at the high school level. Due to our impending trip, we had planned not to attend, but it was a very special night where they were honoring victims of cancer and more specifically breast cancer.

Our niece(step-niece, but we don't see it that way) recently lost her father to cancer and so her mom wanted us to be there to support her and for me to take some video of her. Having been through cancer myself, I was more than happy to oblige.

It really doesn't have anything to do with anything, but I think my nieces volleyball shoes are pretty sweet looking. I took a photo so I could share it with you here. They are just some classy looking shoes. I don't even know the brand. I am guessing it's something specific to volleyball though. What do you think?

Unfortunately, they lost the match against a pretty good team from the middle of the state. It was an emotional evening for all of them.

Toronto finally decided they care about the playoffs I guess and hammered the Mariners back in Seattle 13 to 4 last night. That puts the series at 2-1 in favor of Seattle, so we will see who comes out on top in this best of five series. Meanwhile, the Dodgers and Brewers continue their series tonight with LA up two games to 0.

The NCAA football season rolls into week 8 this weekend and though I will likely not watch nearly as many games as I did last weekend, I still plan on trying to catch a few. If you find yourself wondering what to watch on Saturday, let me give you some suggestions.

Though Louisville is 4-1 going into their game against number 2 Miami who is 5-0 on the season, I don't expect the Cardinals to have much luck against the Hurricanes. It's just nature am I right?

Number 25 Nebraska has what could be an interesting game against Minnesota at Minnesota this weekend. A win in this game could really pad the resume of Nebraska. It's not that Minnesota is good, it's just that Nebraska hasn't been good for so long that you never know what could happen...

In the SEC, the first of two marquee match ups is probably number 5 Ole Miss heading into number 9 Georgia. Keep an eye on that game. Ole Miss could get their first loss of the season with this one.

Michigan State heads to Bloomington to face Indiana. I will be shocked if the Spartans hand the Hoosiers their first loss of the season. This is likely going to be a bloodbath. It's okay though, we will get them come basketball season!

The number 7 Texas Tech at Arizona State game could be good. I'm just guessing based on records and what I know of the teams. Don't quote me on that one.

Number 20 USC has what is apparently a big rivalry game against number 13 Notre Dame this weekend. I never realized the animosity between the two teams until a popular rivalry commercial came out this season and brought it to my attention.

The second big game in the SEC is number 11 Tennessee heading into number 6 Alabama. Both teams are 5-1 on the season, so this could be a good game.

Finally, number 23 Utah heads into number 15 BYU to try and give the Cougars their first loss of the season. This could be a really good game. Either that or BYU will just roll over them. Who knows.

As for the NFL, I have to wait until Monday night to see if Detroit can recover from their loss against Kansas City. They are facing Tampa Bay, who has one of the best records in the league, so this will be no small order for them.

The good news is, it's in Detroit, so home field advantage may play a part.

I hope you have an awesome weekend and be sure to check back next week for all the updates!
