Everyone Gets a Medal!

Anyone else enjoying the Winter Olympic Games as much as I am? This has been a pretty eventful few days and we aren't even halfway done yet! Believe it or not, one of the things I love the most about these games is that none of the "regulars" are sitting at the top of the medal standings. At least not yet. Russia is still out of the games due to the invasion of Ukraine, aside from a handful of athletes who are competing on a freelance sort of basis.
China is sitting down in the 14th spot as far as medal count as of this morning, and the US is down in the number 5 spot. Norway is kicking butt in the top spot with a total of 12 medals which is almost twice what the number two country Switzerland has at 7.
It's also nice to see the host country Italy with 11 medals. You might think that should put them in the second place spot instead of Switzerland, but I guess they add some weighting to the type of medal the country has gotten. As you will see below.
Likewise, Norway has the most gold medals at 6 with Switzerland close behind at 4. It's actually not surprising that Norway would be doing so well, I know it might be a bit of a stereotype, but I would imagine kids grow up learning to do a lot of these events in Norway. The same could be said for kids in the Northern US, but honestly, I don't think we have the dedication and focus we once did.
That certainly can't be said for the US Women's Hockey team. They have been steamrolling through the competition scoring an average of 5 goals per game and something like 30 to 40 shots on goal per game. It's dang impressive.
It was also a lot of fun to watch the US mixed doubles curling team see so much success. Sadly, they fell short to the Swiss team I think and ended up with a silver medal, but it was a really great run for them. They should be really proud of the performance they delivered. I still don't understand much about curling, but there is a curling center down the road from where @mrsbozz and I live. I think they offer open learning sessions, but we have just never gotten around to checking it out.
Of course we also have the record breaking speed skating by they young lady from the Netherlands I think it was. I can't think of her name, but she is quite the sensation eh? Jake Paul seems to think so...
We also had Lindsey Vonn take a bit of a tumble and needed to get airlifted off the mountain. I appears she will be okay, but it's still a sad ending for her legendary career. It's actually kind of hard to believe we still have so much stuff ahead of us given all the events that have already taken place.
What has been your favorite so far?
What are you most looking forward to yet?

We did score our first medal, a bronze one, in shortrack. Always fun to watch. You have to look up, but a few years ago, the underdog in the final won, miles behind the rest, because he was the only one who didn't fall.
You do refer to Jutta Leerdam! Impressive what she did, for sure after deciding to take a complete different route than the rest as preparation.
Pitty for Von but like she said, that fall had nothing to do with here ACL injury. But indeed sad to see an impressive career end like that.
Don't have a lot of favorites. Of course I do root for the Belgians and the Dutch! I just try to enjoy what I can see.
I saw the video of that one skater that finished alone. It was pretty interesting. I wish you luck.
