Explain something to me...

With the NCAA tournament now behind us, you would think that all of the college basketball news is going to be pretty calm for a while. In fact, that is not the case. For some reason, there seems to be a lot of people out there who don't know how to act like civilized human beings.

Of course the opening photo is from Korea and it is just there as an example of what happened in Connecticut over the past couple of days.

In the wake of the UConn victory over San Diego State University, there have been a total of 15 arrests and 16 people hurt after a rowdy crowd created a path of arson and destruction through the town.

Now, being from Michigan and being a Michigan State fan, I am ashamed to admit, I am no stranger to this sort of behavior. There have definitely been a couch or two burned in East Lansing in celebration of a big victory.

That doesn't mean I get it though or even condone it.

It's just silly to me.

I understand being excited that your team won, but so excited you think it is a good idea to become a vandal? I'm not buying that.

No doubt there was a small amount of alcohol involved, and we all know that alcohol can make you do some pretty crazy things. I've gotta believe this is more of a mob mentality situation. A single person has a really bad idea and then the network effect compounds it into something horrible.

Perhaps some of you soccer fans might be able to explain it to me? I mean, riots are pretty common in your sport right?

I just don't get the idea behind outright vandalism. You are taking something really great and turning it into something really ugly. That's super not cool in my book.

At the very least, have a little bit of grace and act like you have been there before. Especially since UConn has. They are now the most "winningest" team in current history I think when it comes to the NCAA tournament.

I don't know, maybe I am just too old, but it seems really silly to me.

Perhaps my days of wanton destruction are behind me!

There is no need for this type of behavior and it is a lack of respect for others and a problem in society these days. I suppose you can blame their ages, but there is no excuse.

I would blame the ages, but they have been doing this for years. So unless it is something about being a young adult that gets you excited about trashing stuff... I don't know.

Ya no excuse for brutish, loutish behaviour, it is all too common in some sports, especially soccer, where certain clubs have a thug element..

I haven't ever seen that first hand with soccer, but I have definitely heard the rumors and I know the reputations.
