First Four: Let the games begin!

It's official, the NCAA tournament has begun. Last night we got to see the first of four play-in games and they were nothing less than everything you would expect from this time of year. We got to see a really close game and then we also got to see a rout.

Until things really get humming along for the tournament in a day or two my posts are going to continue to be kind of short. It's hard when you only have two games to dedicate a full post to. Sometimes there is enough action to make it worth it and others you are simply recapping the score.

My brother in law is getting ready to head to Pittsburgh for the first and second round of games in a couple of days. He has a group of friends that he goes with with every year. They pick a city and have a great time watching games and hanging out. That's a pretty cool tradition if you ask me.

As for me, I will be watching the games from the comfort of my home. I have a big trip planned this summer and that is what I am saving my money for!

Anyway, Howard and Wagner went head to head last night as play-ins for the 16th seed position. It was a very close game with Wagner taking down Howard 71 to 68. I watched the first part of the game as you can see above and it was definitely exciting. If this is what we have to look forward to for the rest of the tournament, we are in for a treat!

Then, Colorado State took on Virginia for a 10 seed spot in the big dance.

I will admit, I have an affinity for Colorado State. I got a chance to visit the campus of the college a couple times when I was younger and it was really awesome. With the mountains in the background and the amenities the university offers, it's a pretty cool place.

Anyway, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't secretly cheering for them to go pretty far in the tournament. My bracket might not reflect that, but deep down I am.

It was nice to see them handily defeat Virginia 67 to 42 last night.

Tonight we have two more games before we really get to the action. Grambling State takes on Montana State for a 16 seed bid and Colorado (the other one) takes on Boise State for a #10 seed. If I had to guess, my money is on Colorado, but who knows what might happen in March.

Do you have any teams you are cheering for in the tournament? What does your bracket look like?
