I can admit when I was wrong

That's right, you heard me. I can admit when I am wrong. Just yesterday I was lamenting the fact that every softball and baseball game I cared about what cancelled and I expected them to be cancelled again.
They weren't!
In fact, both my nieces team and the Tigers played yesterday.
What turned out to be a really good day for the Tigers against the Indians (sorry, Guardians) was also a quite bad day for my nieces team.
Detroit took down Cleveland 1 to 0 in a game that has some serious implications even this early in the season. With Cleveland sitting at the top of the division and the Tigers sitting at the bottom, they really needed this win over the Guardians to move up the ranks.
Hats off to the Tigers pitching staff for shutting out Cleveland. They needed that in what has been a quite rough to start to their year already. With warmer weather coming our way, could we finally be past the bulk of the postponements? I hope so, shy of a lightning storm.
Detroit is back in action today against Cleveland in a day game that starts at 1:10 PM EST.
As I said, my nieces team had a rougher go of it.
Where the Detroit and Cleveland defense was on point, the defense last night was pretty much nowhere to be found. That doesn't mean my niece didn't have some good plays though. There was one snag she had at shortstop that basically robbed the batter of a base hit. It was an amazing grab.
Add to that the fact that she hit a three run homer and she had a pretty good night even if the team as a whole did not.
The final score of the game was 20 to 17 with my nieces team being on the losing end.
They went down early at the top of the first inning 5 to 0. Then in the bottom they had their first at bats and I just had a feeling she was going to do something special. Sure enough, that's when she hit her home run making it 5 to 3.
From there it was a back and forth game with my nieces team never quite being able to stop them enough or put up enough runs to ever take the lead.
The stayed in the game though. There were a couple of times I expected the other team to just pull away and end up run-ruling them, but that never happened.
It's been a rough season for my niece, but she keeps going out there every day and giving her best and I have a ton of respect for her to keep doing that.
She continues to amaze me every day. I am so proud of her and of all my nieces and nephews. They are quite special individuals!
