If you have to lose...

So the team that beat my nieces team and knocked them out of the district tournament earlier this week ended up winning their next match and advancing further in the tournament. As the title suggests, I guess if you have to lose, it is nice that the team who beat you didn't immediately lose in the next round.

I think a situation like that would make you question how things may have been different if you had made it to that next game instead of them. Either way, it doesn't really matter, our nieces high school volleyball career is over now and we just wait for her to move on to bigger and better things.

I forgot to mention yesterday that the Michigan State Women's basketball team had a huge milestone the other day in a cupcake game against some nothing of a local university. They beat the other team like 125 to 36 or something like that. 125 points is the most a MSU Women's team has ever scored in a game, so that is pretty impressive. Well done even if it was a cupcake game!

There is a lot going on sports-wise this weekend, but if you are looking for something to watch this weekend, let me give you a few suggestions on the college football front...

There is a Northwestern versus number 19 USC game tonight. It's a big ten match up that probably won't have much impact on the post season, but with the Wildcats sitting at 5-3 and the Trojans at 6-2 it could be a fun match up.

Probably the biggest game of the weekend takes place in the noon slot on Saturday. Number 7 and undefeated BYU is heading to face number 8 Texas Tech who has just one loss on the season. I have a feeling this will end up in the Cougars first loss of the season, but I guess we will have to wait and see. Texas Tech has been a doing really well this year against some pretty tough opponents.

I also might find myself flipping over to the number 5 Georgia at Mississippi State game. While on paper this should be a pretty easy Georgia win, the fact that it is at Mississippi State gives me a sliver of hope that we could see an upset.

Number 2 Indiana should roll over Penn State, and number 1 Ohio State should have very little issue with the 2-7 Purdue Boilermakers. If either of them do, it is going to totally upend the Big 10 championship picture.

Somehow Iowa slid into the top 25 and sit in the number 20 spot as they welcome the number 9 Oregon Ducks to their campus. This could be a good game, but I have a feeling Oregon will probably win it. Meanwhile, at the same time, number 3 Texas A&M is heading to Missouri to face the number 22 Tigers.

Other than that, I don't really see may other games that look too promising as far as excitement factor. The late LSU versus number 4 Alabama game is a huge rivalry, but I don't really care about either of those teams.

If you do... enjoy!
