Is it really over?

Well, it's over, the hype can finally die down and people can get back to their normal lives now. I'm totally not kidding. Things in the state of Michigan have been at a virtual stand still the past couple of weeks with the Lions in the playoffs.

I'm not kidding, it's virtually the only thing that anyone has been talking about. @mrsbozz was at the point where she didn't even care anymore. I mean, she's not the biggest football fan anyway, but even less so with all of this.

I can't tell you the number of bars and restaurants that closed at 6 last night so their workers could get home and watch the big game with their friends or family. Obviously, these were places that don't usually get patrons in to watch sports. The sports bars were packed.

Let's talk about the Ravens first. The team that basically owned the season came up against a Kansas City team that seems to be on a bit of a run right now. Kansas City has basically sucked the whole season. Mahomes has looked like crap, Kelce has been busy being Mr. Swift, and the coach is busy doing commercials as well.

It's a bit of a joke in my opinion. Between Snickers, T-Mobile, State Farm, Subway, and who knows what else, it's a miracle they have time to even dedicate to football. Don't get me wrong, I used to be a pretty big KC fan, but in recent years, I think the success has gone to their heads.

Even when Peyton Manning was at the top of his game, he was still humble.

I was literally shocked yesterday at just how poorly Baltimore played. It was an absolute joke and quite honestly if I was going to pick any team to implode yesterday it wouldn't have been Baltimore. It would have most certainly been my beloved Lions because that's what we are so used to them doing.

Hats off to Kansas City, but I can't say that I think the best team won. I think Baltimore just didn't show up and because of that, Kansas City got a free pass.

There was a lot to love about the Lions game though, they came out fast and strong and virtually stunned the 49ers with an opening possession touch down drive. San Francisco came back and tied things up, and then had a few struggles of their own in the first half.

When I saw the score was 24 to 7 Lions going into halftime, I was actually believing that we might see a Lions Chiefs Superbowl. Something I wouldn't mind at all given the beating Detroit gave KC in the opening game of the season.

I actually preferred that over Detroit facing Baltimore given their early season loss to the Ravens.

Unfortunately, Things went the way we have seen them go countless times this season and about the way you would expect.

There are a lot of people complaining about the fact that the Lions could have kicked some field goals and maybe won the game instead of going for it on fourth down. The fact remains though that the Lions blew a 17 point lead after halftime. Clearly the 49ers made some adjustments at the break that gave them a boost, but where did our defense go?

The fact that we were able to keep it close an only lose by 3 points 31 to 34 is impressive.

I'm definitely heartbroken. This soft defense is something they have struggled with for a while now. There were quite a few games where the offense did everything they needed to only to have the game end up close because the defense gave up so many points.

I hope coach can get that sorted out during the off season. I predict the Lions have some good years ahead of them.

As for the Superbowl... I'm cheering for San Francisco. I've always been a Joe Montana fan!

There may be bad luck in which team wins one of the two sports, but the game is always great. I think 7 to 0 could be a pretty good lead and a pretty good loss too,

It started out as a really good game. Kind of went to crap after the break though.

I knew you would beat me to the punch on writing about this but what a gut-wrenching game that was. I am what I refer to as a "Lion Sympathizer" in that I am not a fan per se but really want them to do well. This looked like history was being made as we went into the locker rooms at halftime but in true Detroit fashion, everything just f**king fell apart in the 2nd half. It's tragic, but at least at least the Baltimorons are out of it as well.

Yeah, I can't say I am surprised. I knew San Francisco was a good team and I even the past season showed us just how soft the Lions defense could be at times. They need to shore that up over the spring/summer. Safety's better be ready to work.
