It's (conference) tournament time!

I was watching a bit of the Big 10 Women's conference tournament last night and I was kind of disappointed to see that Wisconsin was doing so poorly versus Penn State. It's quite likely that the Badgers season is over with their loss to the blue and white, but I have a feeling they will work hard and come back better next year.

My favorite player on Wisconsin Tessa Grady only played three minutes. She finished the game with a three pointer and a turnover.

On the men's side of things we have a couple more days of regular season basketball before the conference tournaments start. It's going to be a bit of a mad dash this weekend to see where teams get seeded.

It's also been interesting over the past week to see which teams are picking up momentum at the right time and which ones are starting to run out of gas at the wrong time.

Tuesday gave us eight top 25 games and Alabama is definitely one of those teams that is losing gas. They had a 105 to 87 loss against Florida which might be enough to shove them out of the top 25 all together. UNLV also had an upset victory over #21 San Diego State 62 to 58.

On Wednesday we had six games in the top 25. #1 Houston continues to dominate with a win over UCF. The problem with Houston is going to be strength of schedule. They have done quite well the past couple of years, but their conference isn't nearly as competitive as some others out there.

There were a handful of ranked games on Wednesday, but none of them ended in upsets. #4 Tennessee beat #17 South Carolina, #2 UConn beat #8 Marquette, and #6 Iowa State beat #20 BYU.

Michigan State was able to win their last home game of the season on Wednesday night as against Northwestern. They have one more away game at Indiana before the conference tournament starts. They need to grab a win there and then make it a little ways into the tournament if they hope to punch their ticket to the big dance.

Finally, last night Washington upset #18 Washington State and #5 Arizona beat UCLA.

This weekend we see a handful of games before most of the conference tournaments start the middle of next week.

I'm not going to give you any advice on who to cheer for this weekend!

Good luck!

Houston cost me $8 versus UCF for not covering the spread. No way that's the number One team in the country. Either way I'll be cheering for my Kentucky Wildcats.. Go Big Blue

Yeah, I am not sure I agree with that either. Like I said, Houston seems to have a good run the past couple of years, but then falls short come tourney time. My sister used to live outside of Lexington, so I definitely appreciate your love of Kentucky. My nieces have friends that attend there too. Spread betting scares me. I never get it right.
