Lasers head to Hilliard, OH for more tournament action

As you can see from the title, my nieces travel team is playing in a tournament in Hilliard, OH this coming weekend. Action actually starts tomorrow in what will be one of their final tournaments of the summer season.
After this weekend they have one more scheduled tournament down in Virginia and then they start getting ready for fall ball unless they happen to add another tournament here or there. It has been an interesting year so far for the ladies.
I will be honest when I say they haven't played as well as I thought they would. I blame that more on me than I do them. Of course as a proud uncle I have high hopes for my nieces and nephews and like many parents, I think they are the absolute best.
The problem is, there are plenty of other parents and relatives who feel the same about their kids. It's been some tough competition this summer. There are a lot of good teams out there and falling short against one of them is nothing to get down about.
These ladies have played their hearts out and I couldn't be more proud of them.
On top of that, my niece has had some pretty great personal statistics this season, I know she will continue to grow as she enters her last two years of softball at this level.
As I said, action starts tomorrow at 5:30 PM with the Lady Lasers taking on the Indiana Prospects Pogue team. I think the real question this weekend will be whether or not they actually get to play all the games they are supposed to and if this tournament will finally have bracket play.
Friday night they have another game immediately after the first one at 7:05 PM against Team PA 16u.
Pool play continues on Saturday with games at 2:20 PM and 5:30 PM for the Lasers. They face the Lady Dukes, and Indiana Gators respectively.
As I mentioned, this is somewhat of a local tournament for the Lasers. That being said, they have players from all across the region on their team, so some families will still have to travel a little further than others.
My in-laws have a pretty short 15 minute (if that) drive to Hilliard based on the traffic.
I think most of all, my niece will be happy about the fact that she gets to sleep in most of the weekend.
At least until Sunday. It would be awesome if they had a long day on Sunday during bracket play. They are due for a big run!
Check back next week when I recap all the action!
