Let's hear it for the ladies!

I've been kicking around for a while now the idea of writing some recap posts about women's college basketball. I have an acquaintance who has said he would rather watch paint dry than watch girls basketball, but I disagree with that.

I've always loved watching my nieces play basketball and as I mentioned in some of my other posts, my wife and I have been watching more women's college basketball lately. If you haven't heard of a young lady named Caitlin, Clark, there is a lot of hype around her right now.

Probably not Taylor Swift level hype, but she has been putting up some impressive stats. Combined with the efforts of her team, they have catapulted Iowa into the #2 position in the nation. I'd heard her name before, but I never really got the chance to see her play until this season.

Anyway, I'm just dipping my toes into this women's basketball thing, but I am going to follow the same format I do for the men's. I'll mostly be covering the top 25 teams and I will be giving you a recap of games that I feel were notable.

I probably won't be recommending games for you to watch since I don't follow this as much as I do men's. Shame on me right?

This past weekend there were five games on Friday night in the top 25. The big upset of the night came at the hands of #15 USC over #4 Stanford 67 to 58. Saturday gave us four top 25 games with none of them being upsets. I have to give some props to Gonzaga though for putting up a monster 104 points against Pacific's 39 points. That's almost embarrassing right there.

I really hope Gonzaga was playing their bench by the second quarter!

Sunday was a monster day for Women's Basketball with fifteen top 25 games being played. #24 North Carolina took #17 Virginia Tech into overtime, but fell short 61 to 70. The #8 Ohio State game against #10 Indiana was a good game. @mrsbozz and I watched that one. Ohio State came out on top.

#12 Texas had a huge win over #2 Kansas State which likely opened the door for Iowa to now be sitting in the #2 spot. Other than that, there weren't any more upsets on Sunday, but #4 Stanford had a big win over #7 UCLA beating them 80 to 60. That's a tough loss for the #7 team in the nation.

Finally, last night we got to see #3 North Carolina State in action against #15 Louisville. They beat the Cardinals by 10 points 77 to 67.

So far it isn't looking like we are getting the same number of upsets in the women's world than we are in the men's. I guess that just proves the men have more flaw right?
