MLB Roundup: Tigers on a Slide

It's been a while since I posted about the Detroit Tigers, but quite honestly, there isn't that much to talk about. It seems they have found themselves on a bit of a slide and where they were once sitting second to the top in the AL Central, they now find themselves in the second to last spot. Only the Kansas City Royals are doing worse than the Tigers.

The good news is, the Royals are about nine games below the Tigers, so it is going to take a meltdown of epic proportions for them to find themselves in last place.

Hopefully anyway.

As a lifelong Tigers fan I have learned to temper my expectations. Just when you think they can't get worse, they often do. Just when you think they should be doing phenomenal, they don't. It's one of the constants of the universe.

Right now it looks like the Rays, the Orioles, or the Rangers have the best chance of making it to the World Series to represent the American League. We all know how quickly things can change though. That AL East division is looking really tough with pretty much all of the teams in the running.

In the National League, the Braves, and Diamondbacks look like the top contenders right now.

That probably doesn't bode well for the Tigers who have a double header against Atlanta today.

Detroit then starts a series against Minnesota. This could be a good chance for them to gain some ground back on the top team in the AL Central.

It's going to be a rough go no matter what. It might be better for me to just stick to cheering on my nieces and nephews! At least the expectations aren't as high there. Neither are the stakes for that matter!

Fingers crossed the Tigers can find a way out of this slump and finish the season strong. It's hard to believe that we are more than a third of the way through the season now.

With the NBA and NHL post seasons over, it's going to be time to start looking at football training camps. American football, not soccer. Though soccer is getting exciting too. How many more big name players do you think the MLS can poach from across the Atlantic?
