NFL Playoff Recap: Who didn't see this coming?

I'm going to be honest, I didn't watch a lot of football this past weekend. If you hop over to my main account @bozz, you will see that Sunday evening my wife and I were at our first concert of 2023. It was a great time and I don't really regret missing football for it.

I did start to watch the Eagles/49'ers game and it wasn't until halftime of that game that we had to head out to the venue.

It was definitely an interesting game. I think we will all agree that the early injury to Purdy determine the course of the whole game. Defense on both side of the ball was pretty tough. Despite nothing happening on offense for them, the Niners defense was staunch and relentless.

Philadelphia had to work for every inch that they gained on the field and ever point that they scored. My hats off to San Francisco for their grit. It's a tough way to end the season. No doubt about that. While I didn't think the injury looked that bad on the replays, I read yesterday that Purdy needs surgery to fix it and ensure his continued play in the NFL. It certainly opens the door for Garappalo to return to his starting position...

In between acts at our concert, I looked at my phone and opened the YouTube TV app so I could watch a bit of the Bengals/Chiefs game. It looked like a pretty tight game. In fact, it was still going on as we were leaving the show. @mrsbozz's friend was giving us updates via text on what was happening.

I saw the score when it was tied 13-13, then we heard it had moved up to a 20-20 tie. I've read that there were some pretty controversial calls during the game. I can't really speak to that. I want to say it sounds like the Bengals let penalties get to them and maybe didn't play as tight as they could have.

Then again, we all know that officials in the NFL have their darlings, so it isn't unbelievable to think that they didn't have a bit of a fix in for the Chiefs to begin with.

Mahomes is a good QB, but no way he is the same player he was three years ago. He isn't quite as spry or mobile as he used to be. I imagine that is to be expected, but I wouldn't say he is still in his prime by any means.

Too much noodling around with Jake from State Farm...

Did you watch either of the games? What did you think? Was the Chiefs/Eagles matchup in the Superbowl a foregone conclusion?

If you haven't seen it already, I encourage you to check out @summertooth's latest post. He is running a superbowl board and last I knew they still had some squares opening. If you are into that sort of thing, it might be worth checking out!
