NFL Week 14 Recap: The Final Stretch!

Travel is probably on the mind of a lot of college football players right now. Whether they are entering the transfer portal, or getting ready to head to a bowl game across the country, bags are getting packed and jets are getting loaded with passengers.

Meanwhile, the NFL is barreling towards their own playoff and while six weeks ago things were pretty clear, that's not so much the case anymore. Teams that were on a roll have stalled out and national favorites have devolved into a dumpster fire.

It's a hot mess out there people!

Speaking of teams that have hit the wall, The Lions absolutely sucked on Sunday. As a long time Lions fan, I can't say that I am not surprised, but there was a small sliver of me that was really hoping this time was going to be different.

Despite his occasional heroics, I don't feel like we have a path forward with Goff at quarter back. That's just me though. The fact that our defense totally dropped the ball this past weekend doesn't help either.

I saw it coming though. The first game against Chicago was on it's way to a loss before Detroit was able to mount their epic comeback. It's no surprise that Chicago was able to keep doing what they did last time with better results this time.

Denver next week might give us a glimmer of hope, but then we have The Vikings, The Cowboys, and The Vikings again to close out the season. Needless to say this week and at least one of those games against Minnesota are must wins.

Congrats to Buffalo for beating Kansas City. I know there was a lot of controversy around the game, but this is a big win for a Buffalo team that has been on a bit of a slide lately. LA took Baltimore into overtime, but the Ravens ultimately came out on top in that match up.

The score that stands out to me the most from this past weekend is the Minnesota/Las Vegas game. 3 to 0? I mean come on. That had to be either an offensive cluster or one heck of a defensive game. Maybe both. I didn't watch it, so I really can't say.

There were some really close games this weekend. I think a lot of teams are starting to realize that they need to step up their game if they want to have a chance at the post season. I think they are also realizing that with some of the missteps, they actually have a chance at the post season now.

Baltimore is the darling in the AFC with 10 wins and 3 losses. Miami is right behind them at 9 and 4, and then you have Jacksonville and Kansas City at 8 - 5.

Meanwhile, over in the NFC, the South division still continues to look like crap. Three teams are tied for first place at 6-7 and then you have Carolina at 1-12.

San Francisco already snagged a playoff spot at 10-3 in the West, but Detroit is still vying with Minnesota for that spot in the North. It's gonna be either Dallas or Philly in the East.

Needless to say, I am going to have a singular focus over the next couple of weeks and although I know it will have little impact, I am going to be sending all the good vibes I can in the direction of Detroit so that they can finally make it to the playoffs and hopefully win a game without the ref's or anyone else taking it away from them.

Go Bills! Lots of controversy with the bad calls during the game. We've taken enough bad calls though, so for once it worked in our favor. That game has been the talk of the town in Buffalo.

Bad calls are old hat for Lions fans. I saw that people are really starting to get upset now and they are saying the owners need to take the NFL to task. Funny how that works when it is a franchise team and not just the Lions.

I think everyone says that about their hometown team. Always seemed like the officials had it out for the Bills 🤣 to just about any Buffalo fan.

"The Fix Is In" is a good book that talks about game fixing based on bad officiating. It's a pretty good read and really makes you question sports officiating.

I haven't seen that book, but I know there was a scandal a while ago about the NBA and I pretty much stopped watching after that. It's all gone downhill from there. Calvin Johnson has a rule named after him because of bad officiating. I don't think anyone else has that!

Any game but makes us amazing. You want your team to win but some changes in the team are most necessary. They have made a good score in which it is expected that you will win.

Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see what we end up with next year.
