Oh so dim

That glimmer of light that was the Detroit Lions season is slowly starting to fade and we are now on a slippery downhill slope of not making it to the playoffs. I saw a graphic this past weekend that said if the Lions were able to beat the Rams they had a 70% chance of making it to the playoffs. However, if they failed to beat the Rams, that percentage dropped down to something like 30 or 40 percent.
Well, shocker, the Lions lost in grand fashion to the Rams, so that doesn't give us a lot of hope for the post season. It's still more hope than the Chiefs have, and I am okay with that. After their loss this weekend, KC is officially out of the running for the playoffs. Can't say I won't miss them on my screen this post season.
Though it is nice seeing what Taylor Swift is up to every now and then on the weekends!
Atlanta knocked Tampa Bay down another peg beating them 29 to 28. That's a sad end for Tampa Bay. As I have said in the past, they were one of the favorites early in the season to do well this year. Though the same could be said of the Lions. So...
Actually, Tampa Bay is still tied for first place in the NFC South with Carolina at 7 wins and 7 losses, but that might not even get you a wildcard spot these days.
Houston hammered Arizona 40 to 20, Jacksonville did the same to the Jets 48 to 20, and Philadelphia blanked Las Vegas 31 to 0.
Washington kept the Giants at the bottom of the NFC beating them 29 to 21, and Buffalo had a thrilling victory over New England 35 to 31. I watched part of that game and heading into halftime the Patriots were dominating this game. I think the score was something like 21 to 7 going into the break. Buffalo scored 14 points in both of the remaining quarters to top one of the best teams in the AFC.
The Chargers beat Kansas City 16 to 13 knocking them out of the running for the playoffs as I mentioned earlier, Baltimore shut out Cincinnati 24 to 0, and Chicago continues to roll along beating the Browns 31 to 3 in what was almost a shutout. If you want more info on that, go read @hanshotfirst's latest post.
Seattle took down the Colts 18 to 16, San Francisco beat Tennessee 37 to 24, and New Orleans got a rare win over Carolina 20 to 17.
As I said before, the Lions lost to the Rams 41 to 34. I want to blame the bad calls by the officials, but honestly, even if they had called that guy down before the goal line (which he was), they likely would have scored immediately on the next play, so it's basically a moot point.
The Lions are their own worst enemy at this point. I want to be mad at the officials and the replay folks, but I think that would be misguided. Still, you can't convince me the NFL isn't rigged.
Denver took down Green Bay 34 to 26 in what is a shocker for me. I watched parts of that game too and it appeared the Packers were going to roll home with the win. Just chalk it up to another thrilling home victory for the Broncos this year.
Minnesota beat Dallas 34 to 26, and Pittsburgh bested the Dolphins 28 to 15.
With that win this weekend Denver sits at the top of the AFC an they have clinched a playoff spot. Meanwhile, Vegas and Tennessee sit at the bottom with just two wins a piece. New England, Buffalo, Jacksonville, and the Chargers still have a shot of making it to the playoffs.
Over in the NFC, the Rams have clinched a playoff spot with their win over Detroit. Seattle, San Francisco, Chicago, and the Eagles still have a bit of hope that they will likely make it to the playoffs. Then we have the Giants at the bottom with just two wins this season.

Oh the Broncos are doing well I see! I hadn't realised, that will make Mrs T happy as she is from Co.
I have always been a fan of the Broncos. Even before my wife's cousin played there. After as well!
