Opening Day!

I know this is usually the day that I talk about NCAA basketball, but with the Final Four taking place this weekend, and the finals not very long after that, we need to start focusing our attention elsewhere. Thankfully, yesterday was the opening day of Major League Baseball.

I will admit, I don't follow baseball as closely as I used to, but I am hoping to change that this year. Some of the new rule changes that I posted about a couple of weeks ago have served to rekindle my interest in the game.

Before I get to that though, let's talk about the Final Four. After all, it is Friday and that is usually what I talk about on Friday's.

I'd love to be able to give you some advice for these matchups, but the fact is, I don't think any of us saw them coming, so how can you even know! My best advice is just to watch both of the games and have a good time. Your bracket is likely busted by this point anyway.

If I did have to guess... I'm going to take San Diego State over Florida Atlantic and probably Miami over UConn. I think the Hurricanes have the momentum. I don't know....

So yeah, opening day was yesterday. Every single team played a game and while only half of them were the home opener for one of the teams, the others will get their chance in the near future.

I noticed the Detroit Tigers are on the road down in Tampa Bay. I know a handful of people who always take the day off for the Tigers home opener, so I have a feeling before long they will be MIA.

Speaking of bats and balls, my niece who is still in high school started her sophomore season of school softball. I am biased of course, but she is kicking ass already this year. Although they haven't won a game yet, she has knocked in her fair share of RBI's and gotten on base pretty consistently. I'd have to pay to look up the stats, but I'd guess she is batting well over .500 already on the year.

I got to watch her play live last night and it was so awesome. I love watching my nieces and nephews do what they love.

That's all I've got for today. I am on a bit of a tight schedule. Check back on Monday when I cover all the excitement from the Final Four games.
