RE: Do you celebrate "Selection Sunday"?

Don't you folks do something special down there for Rugby or Aussie Rules Football? I am sure there is some kind of similar thing. Maybe it's just an excuse for Americans to drink and eat more... Who knows!

nope! We've got nothing like that down here. Our "Grand Final" days are huge. One thing we do different in some of our sports is we have whats called a "Magic Round". Every team across the country will come together and they'll play the entire round of fixtures at one stadium. It's a nice carnival atmosphere. Wonder if something could kick off like that in the NFL or NBA

That is pretty cool. How many teams are there across the country? The NFL has 32 teams and I am guessing most of the other leagues are pretty similar. It would have to be a whole week event. It would be kind of cool though. I understand what you mean about it being a carnival atmosphere.

Ah yes that would be hard in a league that huge you're not wrong. Our "Magic Round" in rugby league takes place with 14 teams so a lot easier to have. A 32-team NFL magic round would be extremely difficult. But perhaps you could split it up and have the two conferences having a "Magic Round" and have a 16-team carnival weekend

Yeah, they kind of do that with the playoffs, but it isn't every team in the league. It's still an interesting concept. I think they could make it work if they wanted to.
