Talk about Pay Per View!

This past weekend was a pretty special time for @mrsbozz and I. If we hadn't been camping, there is a good chance we would have been at Ford Field down in Detroit, MI watching the Lions. To be fair, the Lions wouldn't have been the only reason we were there. As part of the pre-season festivities, my nephews peewee football team got to travel down to the home of the Lions and play on the field during halftime.

Like I said in the opening, my wife and I were up north camping this past weekend, so we weren't able to bet here to cheer him on. We were hoping that maybe they would show some of the halftime action on the live telecast of the game. It's the time of year where it is hard for me to get away from work, so I had my laptop with me.

That combined with a mobile hotspot and a subscription to YouTube TV got us access to the game on the shores of Lake Huron. You can see it in the background of the photo above. It was actually the pretty perfect afternoon. The only thing that might have made it better is if the Lions had actually won.

Unfortunately, as I expected, the entire halftime program on TV was dedicated to commentators talking about this and that. It was only during the commercial breaks that they showed what was happening on the field.

We found out after the fact that our nephew got to take a couple snaps on offense and he had a really good sack on defense. He also took a hard hit himself and has quite a bit bruise on his chin. As they say though, scars heal...

The Lions sadly, aren't looking to great in the preseason. The good news is, most of these players we won't likely see in the regular season. These are the second and third string players who are just hoping for a position on the team. There are a couple who are rising to the top and making a name for themselves, but they will likely have to hope for an injury to get some playing time during the regular season.

The beat down by Jacksonville was pretty hard to watch. The fact that they only scored seven points is pretty horrible. Bridgewater looked horrible. There was a lot about the game that was just horrible.

Hopefully this preseason action isn't an indication of how the regular season is going to go. There are a lot of people excited about the Lions this year and the disappointment might be too much to bear if it goes south.

Then again, we should be used to it here in Michigan.

Time will tell.

Even with the loss, you can't really beat that view can you?

It was awesome.

I've seen a bit of 'football' on our trip. It was on TV when we were getting a tyre changed. I know enough of the rules to follow it. I actually used to watch a fair bit of it years ago, but never supported any particular team.

It's one of my favorite parts of this time of year. I don't watch as much as I used to just to keep @mrsbozz happy. I love laying on the couch on weekends and watching a few games.

Did you expect that they would? Let's just hope for a winning season :)

In the preview picture it appeared to me as though you had your laptop sitting on the grill :)

We did at first, but it was too high, so we moved it down to the little fold-able side table that we have. The Lions had a lot of momentum at the end of last season. They are building something good and I think they have a decent chance of making the playoffs this year. Thankfully most of those good pieces aren't playing in the preseason games. I think that is a lot of it.

I've noticed the same about my Panthers. They aren't fielding their new QB for very long but it was good to see that the offensive line is improving a bit so that he has more than a quarter of a second to get a pass off. As much as I complain about my Panthers sucking for a long time I think Lions fans are much worse off :P

I only watched part of the game on Friday night. My wife and I were catching up on some other shows too. It looked a bit iffy for a while there. Good thing preseason doesn't matter I guess.
