That's a Wrap!

My post yesterday was about the regular season wrapping up for the Tiffin Dragons softball team and the start of the post season for them. Today I want to put more of the focus on the Radford Highlanders which is where my other niece will be attending next year.

While they had a shaky start to the season, the Highlanders ended the season pretty well finding themselves in the 25th spot in one of the Division 1 polls. I think that's not too bad for having a brand new coach this season. The university made the decision to let go of their old coach after last season and my niece was a little nervous about what that might mean for her moving forward.

Thankfully, the new coach seems to have embraced the players that were already recruited and he has worked with what was left to him to make a pretty dang good team.

While Radford is currently in a three game losing streak, they have a game tomorrow and then a double header on Saturday that will hopefully turn things around. From there they start the Big South conference tournament on May 8th. I will be following that closely.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how the team shapes up after my niece joins next year. As good as she is already, I think she still has somethings she could learn and I hope the new coach will take her to the next level.

Meanwhile, I would be remiss if I didn't point out the fact that Tiffin won their tournament game yesterday to stay alive. I should also point out that their coach was named coach of the year in their conference. That's pretty impressive given the struggles she has had since she started.

They play again today at 10:00 AM against Ohio Dominican University. You better believe I will be tuning in for that via stream.
