The College Softball World Series is set!

I know I am a bit off, but things have been crazy so far this week. Monday I was outside working all day so I wasn't able to do much in terms of posting. Then yesterday, I wanted to be sure to get the post about my nieces team out there, so I had to skip over the College Softball World Series for a day.

The Super Regionals took place this past weekend and it was pretty spectacular. The Super Regional is in a best of three format and there were quite a few match-ups that took all three games to determine who would be heading along to the College World Series.

Unfortunately, some of those teams I would have just as soon seen packing their bags and heading home. Oh well....

Namely, Alabama. They took down Northwestern in the third and final game to advance along to one of the final quads of teams. Unfortunately for them, they are in a quad with Oklahoma. Oklahoma is the #1 seed in the nation and this is something like the 11th year in a row that they have made it to the world series. I could be wrong there, but they are really good.

They have a massive win streak behind them and they are hungry to win again this year.

Tennessee and Stanford are the other two teams rounding out the bracket. They beat Texas and Duke respectively to get to where they are. Likewise, Oklahoma beat Clemson to make it to the semifinals.

In the other quad we have Florida State who beat Georgia, Oklahoma State who took down Oregon, Utah who bested San Diego State, and finally Washington who beat the Cinderella Louisiana to make it to the semi finals.

If you remember my earlier posts, the games this weekend will be a double elimination format. If I had to guess what the outcome was going to be, I think it would be hard to say.

Tennessee is looking good, but they have a tough quad to play in. I think the team that has the best shot against Oklahoma is probably Florida State, but who really knows what is going to happen.

I am going to be watching some live softball back down in Ohio again this weekend, but you better believe I will be watching the World Series on TV as well and following along!

It's going to be an awesome weekend!

So what is the difference between softball and baseball?

Bigger ball, pitches are underhand not overhand, bases are closer together. They only play 7 innings not 9. That's about it.
