The most wonderful time of the year?

Can you believe it? It feels a lot like Christmas morning around here because NFL and NCAA football are back! I'm beyond excited about all of this quite honestly. I've already started getting things in order for the family fantasy football league. We are making some big changes this year and I am hoping that it is going to make things more competitive.
First of all, I am not going to allow people to manually pick players for their team. That was a mistake I made last year and my cunning niece took advantage of that mistake to stack her team with a ton of good talent.
In addition to that, we are cutting the number of bench players a team can have from six down to four. The hope is that will keep people from benching good talent and just sitting on them while other players struggle to get by with mediocre players.
Only time will tell if these changes will have an impact, but so far I am pretty optimistic about them.

Back to the real world...
The Detroit Lions had their first preseason game the other night against the New York Giants. I was finishing up the latest season of Ted Lasso with @mrsbozz, so I only caught the end of the preseason game.
We actually turned it on at just the right time. New York had just edged ahead with a field goal to go up by two points. Thankfully, the quarterback who is gunning for the third backup position on the Lions led an amazing drive down field that culminated in a score and pretty much clinched the victory for the Lions.
Okay, so really it was the last second interception that clinched the game, but it was still a pretty amazing drive down the field.
There is a lot of excitement in Detroit around the team this year. They had some good momentum going into the end of last season and I am hoping they can continue that into this year. There is some really young talent on the Lions that is looking to shine.
I think we might hear a lot of the same names announced through the season that we heard in the preseason game on Friday night.
Meanwhile, Michigan State starts their season September 1st. It's going to be an interesting year for the Spartans. They had a pretty lackluster showing last year with brief glimpses of brilliance. There have been a lot of shakeups in the college football world. The transfer portal has changed the game completely.
I am looking forward to seeing what kind of team MSU has put together and I hope they can finally be a contender again for the conference championship.
If not, we will just say it is a building year!

It feels so nice to see all the game start again and I can't wait to enjoy the actions.
I know what you mean! I am super pumped too! It's going to be a great year!
Of course
Let us take a moment to mourn the demise of Pac-12.
No doubt right! Talk about a bloodbath! These super-conferences are going to be raking in so much money! I mean more than they already do!
