Too much time on our hands?

It was a pretty interesting weekend as far as basketball goes. I know that most people in the US were watching the football games on Sunday, but there was a lot of other stuff to fill the weekend if you aren't a football fan.

My niece started our weekend off with a game on Friday night. It was an away game and the high school used their own streaming service where they were playing. We decided to pay the $7 so we could watch the game. The camera work was pretty horrible and it was kind of a waste to spend the money.

On top of that, there were a couple young ladies doing the commentary for the game. They were trying, but they didn't know who half the players were and a lot of the time they were talking just to talk. Then, after halftime, they either gave up or just didn't care because there was no commentary.

The neglected to turn their mic off though, so for the low price of $7 we got to hear one of the girls talk about some boy to the other girl all while dropping some swear words here and there. Now, I'm not a prude and I've been known to drop a swear myself here and there, but they were broadcasting live and who knows how many out of state kids or grandparents were watching the game.

All that being said, my nieces team won the game by a good margin and my niece even put up her fair share of points. It was awesome to see her in action. I love that you can stream so many of these high school sporting events now. It's really changed the way we follow our relatives that are out of state.

Unfortunately, Michigan State didn't have the same luck against #13 Wisconsin Friday night. I knew it was going to be a tough game, but The Badgers absolutely crushed the Spartans. It was almost like they were playing at a completely different level. It doesn't give me a lot of hope for the post season...

Saturday brought us 17 top 25 games and let me tell you, there were some doozies. One of the most notable would be the #23 Iowa State victory over #7 Kansas. This is an interesting one because even though Kansas was ranked higher that Iowa State by a decent amount, Iowa State was still the Vegas favorite to win this game.

I placed a bet anyway and won myself a couple dollars. Not bad at all!

Not to be outdone, #20 Texas Tech took down #11 Oklahoma 85 to 84. Likewise, Mississippi State wanted in on some upset action and they beat #8 Auburn 64 to 58.

Probably the most spectacular game of the day though goes to TCU and their three overtime win over #15 Baylor 105 to 102. Holy cow!

I told you that #12 Duke/Clemson game might be good. Turns out I was right for once. Duke beat Clemson by a narrow margin 72 to 71. Plus Wyoming took #24 Colorado State into overtime and claimed the upset 79 to 76.

The final Cinderella of the day was Richmond who stunned #16 Dayton 69 to 64.

Sunday gave us four games in the top 25 and all of them were victories for the ranked team. I would like to point out that #1 UConn put up 99 points against Xavier. That's pretty impressive. We all know that rankings now don't mean much in March, but don't be surprised to make UConn make a deep run in the tournament.

Finally, there were just two games in the top 25 last night and although one of them went into overtime, they both fell in favor of the ranked team.

Tonight alone we have 9 top 25 games, so be sure to check back on Friday for my recap of the weeks games!
