Wait, it's not March?

I'm not going to lie, the way some of the games went this past weekend in college basketball, you would think we area already in the NCAA tournament. I think teams are starting to taste the fact that the big dance is right around the corner. The intensity and urgency have been turned up about five notches.

My weekend started off with my niece playing a game on Friday night. We should have been able to watch it via streaming, but the school they were playing at changed their policy an the stream was going to cost $10 to watch. Since @mrsbozz was out having dinner with a friend, I decided to skip paying and just get updates from my brother in law.

According to him it is good that I didn't pay. My nieces team won, but they were playing like trash and it wasn't a very fun game to watch. I'll take his word for it!

Saturday morning we visited @mrsbozz's old middle school to watch our friends son play basketball. This is only his second season playing, but he is doing a really great job from everything I could see.

His offense is still a little weak, but his defense was on point. He had a couple really good instances where he forced a turnover because he was playing so well. It also helps that they have a couple of really good players on their team. I think the final score was something like 50 to 10 in their favor.

It was a quite good game and a really nice way to start the weekend.

Later that day, I helped @mrsbozz clean the house, and then I settled into the couch to enjoy a nice long day of basketball. I'm really starting to love the multi-view feature of YouTube TV. It's been a total game changer.

As I said, teams are really starting to step up in February and things got off to a bang Friday night with a Butler upset over #13 Creighton 99 to 98.

As I said, on Saturday there was so much good basketball on that I can't even remember for sure what games I watched and which ones I didn't.

I know for sure I watched the Michigan State game as they took on Maryland. It was a good game and it was nice to see the Spartans rack up another win. They need to keep doing that if they want to make it to the tournament. The good news is, there are 64 teams in the tournament, so they don't necessarily need to be in one of those top 25 spots to get in.

Saturday gave us fourteen games in the top 25. I watched some great games outside of the ranked teams as well. @mrsbozz and I even found ourselves watching a bit more women's college basketball this past weekend. I might start doing a separate post series on that now that Football is almost over.

Texas upset #25 TCU on Saturday 77 to 66 and San Diego State upset #17 Utah State 81 to 67. UCF didn't want to be left out, so they upset #23 Oklahoma 74 to 63, and the #8 Kansas Jayhawks took down #4 Houston 78 to 65. I actually put some money on that game for Kansas to win as I think a lot of people did. The odds were kind of crumby.

Cincinnati beat #15 Texas Tech 75 to 72, and #18 Baylor took down #12 Iowa State 70 to 68 in what was a pretty amazing game. If you only watched the last ten minutes of that game, you wouldn't have been disappointed. It was quite amazing.

That Penn State/Indiana game was pretty awesome too. Hats off to Penn State for pulling out the win on that one. After that game I switched over to the Northwestern/Minnesota game. That was a good one too going into overtime before Minnesota pulled out the home win.

Sunday gave us three games in the top 25. #6 Wisconsin gave #2 Purdue a run for their money, but fell short 69 to 75. Nebraska also made a game of it for #14 Illinois, but ultimately lost in overtime 84 to 87.

As I said, things are really starting to heat up in the world of college basketball. I feel like Michigan State is just one win against a ranked team shy of sliding in to the top 25 again. Meanwhile, the rest of the Big 10 and the Big East conferences are a free for all. Anyone has a chance right now.

It's almost like we are starting the madness a month early this year!
