Who's # 2?

It's going to be a bit weird not having our Friday night ritual of @mrsbozz and I watching our niece play basketball via live stream. That was the case this past weekend as there was no game, so we actually found ourselves to to dinner with some friends.

The playoffs start this week on Wednesday as they face off against a team that has the same 10-12 record as them. The funny thing is, I just don't know what to make of this team. They have had some really good games against really tough teams and then they have also had really bad games against really bad teams.

It's honestly a coin toss between them making a deep run in the playoffs or getting knocked out in the first round. They have the potential to go deep. We saw them hang tough against the number one team in the state. That's just enough spark to make me not ready to sleep on this team.

I guess we will see Wednesday...

I don't usually do a lot of NBA stuff in these posts, but the All Star game was last night. Would you believe the final score of the game was 211 to 186 in favor of the East? That's just ridiculous to me. It pretty much tells you how little defense was being played. It's not like the really play defense in the NBA anymore anyway, but the clips I saw of the game last night were just ridiculous.

I honestly think the Bad Boys (free upvotes if you get the reference) would be disappointed if they saw the shenanigans that were going on. It's not even basketball.

Thankfully we still have the college scene for some real basketball where the players play both offense and defense.

As I said last week, there were no top 25 games on Friday night, but a whole mess of them on Saturday. I got a chance to watch one or two of them after I finished running around in the morning.

Oklahoma State started off the upsets on Saturday with a big ten point win over #19 BYU. Likewise, Iowa stunned #20 Wisconsin with an 88 to 86 overtime win. That wasn't the biggest game in the Big 10 this weekend though. I'll get to that in a second.

#1 UConn manhandled #4 Marquette 81 to 53, and LSU upset #11 South Carolina 64 to 63. It's just too bad LSU couldn't do the same thing last weekend against Alabama when I actually had money on them.

#22 Kentucky had a big road win against #13 Auburn 70 to 59, and Southern Illinois beat #23 Indiana State 74 to 69.

The best win of the day on Saturday for me came when Michigan State beat Michigan at Michigan. It shouldn't have been that hard given the fact that Michigan is ranked last in the Big 10, but Michigan State has been a bit mercurial this year, so you just never know what you are going to get.

It would seem that they are finally getting hot at the right time. Michigan had close to 25 turnovers in the game and that certainly didn't help them. Thankfully those turnovers made up for the fact that shots didn't seem to be falling for MSU.

There were only two top 25 games on Sunday, but both of them were upsets. The first was South Florida over #24 Florida Atlantic and the second was the big game I told you about earlier.

Ohio State who just fired their coach mid season because they were doing so horrible upset the top team in the Big 10 and the #2 team in the nation Purdue 73 to 69. It was a heck of a win for Ohio State. I don't know if it will be enough to get them into the tournament, but it's just the boost they needed at this point in the season.

I've also gotta give a shout out to Nebraska. They have been playing great lately and there is little doubt they will likely be a mid-ranked team in the national tournament. My congratulations to them. They have needed something like this for a while now. If it couldn't come on the football side of things, basketball will have to do!
