Winning!

I'm not really sure I could have taken a more "American" photo this past Saturday night if I had wanted to. Campfire roaring, truck backed up with the tailgate down, Chromebook open streaming college football, and a cold drink in my hand at the campsite. It was a pretty awesome weekend for @mrsbozz and I. It was also a pretty great weekend of college football. I got to see some really great games.

With conference play now in session. There weren't some of the big blowouts that you have come to expect from the beginning of the season, but it was still a really good weekend.

With three of the top five teams on bye this week, there shouldn't be too much movement in the rankings, but then again, you never know. What I do know for sure is that Illinois is going to take a big dive from the nu number 9 spot all the way down to number 23 after getting hammered 63 to 10 by Indiana who now find themselves 11 or 12 spots higher sitting at 11 in the national rankings.

Don't quote me on this, but I think this could be a really good year for the Big 10. At the very least, we are going to have some really exciting games in the next couple of weeks. Ohio State, Penn State, Indiana, Oregon, and USC are all looking really solid.

Unfortunately, my Michigan State Spartans lost to (21) USC 45 to 31 on late Saturday night. I'm actually impressed they were able to score as many as they did. The fact that they gave up 45 points tells me they are still struggling on defense and that is something they are going to need to get sorted out sooner rather than later.

Michigan had a close game against Nebraska with U of M winning 30 to 27. I've gotta give a lot of credit to Nebraska for keeping it so close. I actually think they were the better team in this game and I hope it is an indication that Nebraska is on the cusp of returning to their former glory as a football school.

It's been a rough stretch for them since they joined the Big Ten and I really look forward to seeing them finally get some redemption.

Number 18 Vandy gets the top scorer award in the top 25 this past weekend putting up 70 points against Georgia State. It's actually interesting that even though they are ranked number 4 in the nation, I haven't heard too much about LSU. The talking heads seem to be really hyped on Miami and a few other teams and it is almost like LSU has been left in the lurch. Maybe they just know that by the end of the season things aren't going to look the same as they do now.

I'm happy to see Florida State sitting at number 8 after a big 66 to 10 win over Kent State. I've been a FSU fan ever since the Charlie Ward days, so it's cool to see them having a bit of success this year. Especially after the season they had last year!
