I’m trying out Actifit. I just want to know what this app looks like and does on Hive!

Congrats on getting outdoors and doing some walking on this golden sunset. Is it Tel Aviv, Haifa, or somewhere else?

This was a Tel Aviv sunset! Going to see if I can't get into this Actifit thing a bit more!

Seems like a casual activity tracker, have you been active, or is this geo coordination manipulation via Phone SDK? :p

That was just from my phone and watch but I didn't really move much. I'll give this a try. I realized it's a part of Hive I don't know much about.

I like the simplicity of Actifit. It tracks movement from my phone. Easy enough since when I walk I'm usually listening to podcasts or speaking on Twitter Spaces or Wisdom.

The part I've found interesting when talking to folks about Web3 is that when I mention #Move2Earn their ears prick up. All of the sudden they lean in because if they can potentially earn rewards from their existing fitness activity then Web3 doesn't seem like such a heavy lift. I think of Actifit as one of the easy gateways to encouraging folks to consider the blockchain as another destination for the activities they already do in the world.

I have just one beef with Actifit. Sometimes, not all the time, when I listen to a podcast, Actifit doesn't track my steps while hanging in the background. It really upsets me when I walk for 30-45 minutes and have no steps afterwards. But that doesn't happen every time. It's just once in a while.

I think the only time I had a workout that didn't track was when I tried to use my Apple Watch while on a treadmill. I sort of chalked it up to the fact I have an old first generation Apple Watch more than an Actifit issue. I haven't used the treadmill as a workout for Actifit since.

Overall, I like the app. But I do have to check to make sure it's tracking while I listen to a podcast. Sometimes I forget. lol

The only way to see what these things do is give 'em a try! They've been on Hive since the beginning so it seems rude not to!

I use Actifit as a forcing device for my activity and my daily journalling. Works best with a watch based tracker. I use Fitbit. Rewards come for steps between 5k and 10k.

Key thing is to get post done by midnight each night for the day before = two days grace.

What I have learned is to change up the post title and get rid of the Actifit thing in the post. I still leave the date in. Good photos help hugely - more than the words. Add in stronger tags too related to your communities.

Then stake the tokens you earn. In a long time they will have value. You get the value from the journalling and the hive power from your posts.

So for me it is a way of life every day
