Wczoraj wybraliśmy się do Brukseli, głównie po zakupy do polskiego sklepu, bo święta bez rodzimych produktów nie smakują tak samo. Przy okazji przeszliśmy się po mieście i zabralismy córkę na weekend do domu.

[ENG] Yesterday we went to Brussels, mainly to shop in a Polish store, because Christmas doesn't taste the same without local products. By the way, we walked around the city and took our daughter home for the weekend.

Tradycyjnie na Grand Place stanęła choinka sprowadzona z Arden i szopka bożonarodzeniowa, ale ani jedno, ani drugie nie było atrakcją w dniu wczorajszym na Grand Place. Idąc w stronę placu zauważyliśmy, że większość ludzi ustawia się w kolejce. Nie wiedzieliśmy dokąd ta kolejka. Przez chwilę pomyślałem, że może szopka jest tak zjawiskowa w tym roku, że wszyscy chcą ją zobaczyć. Ominęliśmy kolejnę, żeby wejść na plac i zobaczyć gdzie ona prowadzi. Kolejka otaczała cały plac i kończyła się sporym tłumem przed jedną z kamienic na Grand Place. Wciąż nie wiedzieliśmy o co chodzi, szybko napisałem do córki, czy ona może wie o co chodzi. Okazało się, że znana z social mediów francuska infuencerka Lara "coś tam" otworzyła butik ze swoją kolekcją swetrów w Brukseli i te dzikie tłumy przyszły na otwarcie. Później na jej Instagramie doczytałem, że ten butik będzie tylko przez pięć dni, i że pierwszego dnia odwiedziło go ponad osiem tysięcy ludzi. Świat staje na głowie :)

[ENG] Traditionally, there was a Christmas tree brought from Arden and a nativity scene on the Grand Place, but neither of them was an attraction on the Grand Place yesterday. Walking towards the square, we noticed that most people were lining up. We didn't know where the line was going. For a moment I thought that maybe the nativity scene was so spectacular this year that everyone wanted to see it. We skipped the next one to enter the square and see where it led. The queue surrounded the entire square and ended with a large crowd in front of one of the tenement houses on Grand Place. We still didn't know what it was about, so I quickly wrote to my daughter to see if she knew what it was about. It turned out that the French influencer Lara "something" known from social media had opened a boutique with her sweater collection in Brussels and these wild crowds came to the opening. Later, I read on her Instagram that this boutique would only be open for five days, and that over eight thousand people visited it on the first day. The world is turning upside down :)

Poniżej plastikowe "smakołyki" na wystawach, którymi kuszeni są turyści w kilku cukierniach tuż przy fontanie Manneken pis, były też świątecznie ozdobione eklerki w kształcie penisa.

[ENG] Below, there were plastic "delicacies" on display that tempt tourists in several confectionery shops right next to the Manneken Pis fountain, and there were also festively decorated eclairs in the shape of a penis.

Jeden z dziesiątek murali przedstawiajacych scenki z komiksów między innymi "Przygody Tintina" autorstwa Hergé, czyli Georges’a Remi. W sumie jest około 30 murali tego typu w samym tylko centrum Brukseli, do zobaczenia wszystki wystarczy podobno 5 kilometrowy spacer. Może któregoś dnia zdecyduję się na taką wyprawę. Prezentowany mural "Le jeune Albert" przy Rue des Alexiens 49 "Albert to chłopiec w czerwonym płaszczu. Mieszka w Brukseli, w dzielnicy Marolles, w latach pięćdziesiątych XX wieku, na co wskazuje wystrój tego fresku z epoki: żółte tramwaje, ubrania, samochody… Albert jest antybohaterem, jest kłamliwy, egocentryczny, tchórzliwy, wstrętny, niegodziwy, chciwy, sadystyczny, bezczelny, okrutny…".

[ENG] One of dozens of murals depicting scenes from comic books, including "The Adventures of Tintin" by Hergé, i.e. Georges Remi. In total, there are about 30 murals of this type in the center of Brussels alone, and to see them all you only need a 5-kilometer walk. Maybe one day I will decide to go on such a trip. Featured mural "Le jeune Albert" at Rue des Alexiens 49 "Albert is a boy in a red coat. He lives in Brussels, in the Marolles district, in the 1950s, as indicated by the period decor of this fresco: yellow trams, clothes, cars... Albert is an anti-hero, he is deceitful, self-centered, cowardly, disgusting, wicked, greedy, sadistic, insolent, cruel..."

Podczas wczorajszego spaceru po Brukseli przechodziliśmy między innymi przez Parc d'Egmont, Place Royale Bruxelles i Jardin du Mont des Arts. O ile spacer był dość przyjemny to później musieliśmy wsiąść do samochodu i dwukrotnie przejechać przez centrum miasta. Zwykle nie jest to łatwe zadanie, a wczoraj poprzeczka zawieszona była jeszcze wyżej przez szczyt Rady Europy. A tak się złożyło, że jadąc po córkę musiałem właśnie przejechać przez tak zwaną dzielnicę europejską, szczęśliwie nawigacja pomogła mi objechać największe korki.

[ENG] During yesterday's walk around Brussels, we passed, among others, Parc d'Egmont, Place Royale Bruxelles and Jardin du Mont des Arts. Although the walk was quite pleasant, later we had to get into the car and drive through the city center twice. This is usually not an easy task, and yesterday the bar was set even higher by the Council of Europe summit. It so happened that when I was going to pick up my daughter, I had to pass through the so-called European district, luckily the navigation helped me avoid the biggest traffic jams.
