Zgodnie z zapowiedzią zima dziś postraszyła i sparaliżowała całą Belgię. A tak naprawdę to poprószyło przez 2–3 godziny rano, a później było już spokojnie. Trochę z nudów wykazałem odrobinę własnej inicjatywy, bo oprócz odśnieżenia samochodu żony, oczyściłem dojście do naszej klatki i kilka metrów chodnika. Okazało się, że było to jedyne odśnieżone miejsce przed naszym blokiem.

[ENG] As predicted, winter scared us today and paralyzed the whole of Belgium. But in reality, it only sprinkled snow for 2–3 hours in the morning, and later it was calm. Partly out of boredom, I showed a bit of initiative: besides clearing the snow off my wife's car, I shoveled the path to our entrance and a few meters of the sidewalk. It turned out to be the only cleared spot in front of our apartment block.

Bieganie w takich warunkach byłoby bardzo ryzykowne i mogłoby skończyć się kontuzją, dlatego odpuściłem. Po południu wybrałem się na spacer wokół Grand Large; ślady na śniegu wskazywały, że zaledwie kilka osób szło tamtędy przede mną.

[ENG] Running in these conditions would be very risky and could end in injury, so I skipped it. In the afternoon, I went for a walk around Grand Large; footprints in the snow indicated that only a few people had walked there before me.

Zauważyłem kilka nowych graffiti na murze wzdłuż kanału. Część zbiornika Grand Large pokrywa tafla lodu, ale nie wygląda ona na tyle pewnie, żeby na nią wchodzić. Po drugiej stronie, na jednym z murów, pojawił się ciekawy mural, który nawiązuje do górniczej tradycji regionu. Przedstawia on ponadto smoka, z którym walczył święty Jerzy, i charakterystyczną dzwonnicę (Beffroi), która góruje nad miastem. Szkoda, że ten ładny rysunek jest tak daleko od centrum. Istnieje też ryzyko, że nie przetrwa on długo, bo to miejsce jest wykorzystywane przez grafficiarzy do corocznych imprez. Właśnie ten mural jest efektem ostatniej z nich. Wcześniej też był tam inny, mniej spójny rysunek.

[ENG] I noticed some new graffiti on the wall along the canal. Part of the Grand Large reservoir is covered with a sheet of ice, but it doesn't look solid enough to walk on. On the other side, on one of the walls, an interesting mural appeared referencing the region's mining tradition. It also depicts the dragon St. George fought, and the characteristic Belfry (Beffroi) that towers over the city. It's a pity that this nice artwork is so far from the city center. There is also a risk that it won't last long because this place is used by graffiti artists for annual events. This mural is actually the result of the last event. Previously, there was another, less coherent mural there.
