Kalendarzowa wiosna ma przyjść dopiero w drugiej połowie marca, ale najwyraźniej nie dotyczy to Belgii, bo tutaj wiosna trwa już w najlepsze. Dziś chciałem zamontować markizę na balkonie. Przeleżała tam kilka miesięcy, odkąd pewnego jesiennego wieczora – mimo że była złożona – została zerwana przez wiatr. Dobrze, że byliśmy wtedy w domu; dzięki temu elementy, które wyrwał silny podmuch, nie narobiły większych szkód. Wtedy złożyłem wszystkie części w kącie, gdzie czekały na ponowny montaż. Niestety okazało się, że uszkodzenia są zbyt duże, a śruby mocno skorodowane.

[ENG] Calendar spring isn't supposed to arrive until the second half of March, but apparently, that doesn't apply to Belgium, as spring is already in full swing here. Today I wanted to install a balcony awning. It had been lying there for several months since one autumn evening when—despite being retracted—it was torn off by the wind. It’s a good thing we were home then; thanks to that, the parts ripped away by the strong gusts didn't cause any serious damage. Back then, I piled all the components in a corner to wait for re-installation. Unfortunately, it turned out the damage was too extensive and the bolts were badly corroded.

Zdecydowałem, że trzeba zainwestować w nową. Poszedłem do pobliskiego sklepu na rekonesans, ale oferowali tylko duże parasole ogrodowe. Poszukałem więc w sklepie internetowym światowego giganta i po raz kolejny przekonałem się, że warto sprawdzać ofertę na różnych rynkach – ten sam produkt na stronie belgijskiej kosztował 139 euro, a na niemieckiej 112 euro. Nie pamiętam już, ile płaciliśmy za poprzednią markizę; kupiliśmy ją kilka lat temu i była krótsza od tej, którą zamówiłem teraz.

[ENG] I decided it was time to invest in a new one. I went to a nearby shop to scout around, but they only had large garden umbrellas. So, I checked the online store of a global giant and was reminded once again that it pays to check multiple sites—the same product cost 139 euros on the Belgian site but only 112 euros on the German one. I don't remember how much we paid for the old awning; we bought it several years ago, and it was shorter than the one I just ordered.

Po południu ruszyłem na zaległe długie wybieganie. Trasa do Saint-Symphorien była mi dobrze znana, bo pokonywałem ją kilka razy w tym roku. Gdy dobiegłem do miejscowości, zmieniłem swój zwykły kierunek, przebiegłem przez centrum i skierowałem się w stronę Spiennes. Wielokrotnie chciałem pobiec tą trasą, ale odstraszała mnie wizja wzniesienia Mont Panisel na końcu. Dziś ten widok również mnie przestraszył i przez chwilę myślałem nawet, żeby nadłożyć drogi przez Hyon, ale to oznaczałoby co najmniej 3 kilometry więcej. Wybrałem krótszą trasę i ten „nieszczęsny” podbieg, który ostatecznie okazał się całkiem przyjemny.

[ENG] In the afternoon, I headed out for an overdue long run. The route to Saint-Symphorien was well-known to me, as I’ve run it several times this year. When I reached the village, I changed my usual route, ran through it, and headed towards Spiennes. I’ve wanted to take this path many times, but I was always put off by the sight of the Mont Panisel climb at the end. Today, the sight intimidated me again, and for a moment I even thought about bypassing it through Hyon, but that would have meant at least 3 extra kilometers. I chose the shorter route and that "infamous" climb, which actually turned out to be quite pleasant.
