Trzeci i ostatni dzień w Barcelonie. Jesteśmy zmęczeni, ale bardzo szczęśliwi, że udało nam się tak owocnie spędzić ten czas. Dzisiejszy dzień upłynął nam w zasadzie na szwendaniu się po mieście, wyznaczając sobie mniejsze lub większe cele. Jednym z nich było odwiedzenie miejsc związanych z literaturą, m.in. legendarnej kawiarni Els Quatre Gats, w której spotykali się barcelońscy moderniści i artyści. Pechowo dotarliśmy tam zbyt wcześnie – w soboty otwierają ją później, więc nacieszyliśmy się tylko widokiem z zewnątrz.

[ENG] Our third and final day in Barcelona. We are exhausted but very happy that we managed to spend these three days so productively. Today was basically about wandering around the city, setting ourselves small and large goals. One of them was visiting several literary landmarks, including the legendary Els Quatre Gats café, where Barcelona's modernists and artists used to meet. Unfortunately, we got there too early—they open later on Saturdays, so we only got to enjoy the view from the outside.

Później wybraliśmy się do Katedry św. Eulalii. W ostatnich dniach kilka razy przechodziliśmy obok, ale tym razem zwiedziliśmy jej wnętrze z niezliczoną liczbą kaplic ukrytych wzdłuż naw bocznych. Szkoda, że nie udało mi się uruchomić audioguida, bo zawsze pozwala on dowiedzieć się czegoś więcej o historii świątyni, ale nawet bez tego katedra robi ogromne wrażenie.

[ENG] Later, we headed to the Cathedral of Saint Eulalia. We had passed by it several times over the last few days, but this time we explored its interior, with its countless chapels hidden along both side aisles. It's a pity I couldn't get the audio guide to work, as it always provides more insight into the history of the site, but even without it, the cathedral is deeply impressive.

Przemierzając uliczki starej Barcelony, znów trafiliśmy w okolice bazyliki Santa Maria del Mar – przyciąga nas jak magnes. Szukaliśmy tam niewielkiej angielskojęzycznej księgarni, chcąc kupić córce książkę na pamiątkę. Na miejscu nie było konkretnego tytułu, ale dowiedzieliśmy się, że kilka egzemplarzy jest w innej, większej księgarni. Ruszyliśmy tym tropem – książka faktycznie tam była, ale nie w tym wydaniu, na którym nam zależało. Nic się nie stało, potraktowaliśmy to po prostu jako okazję do dłuższego spaceru.

[ENG] Wandering through the streets of old Barcelona, we once again ended up near the Santa Maria del Mar basilica—it draws us in like a magnet. We were looking for a small English-language bookstore because we wanted to buy a book as a souvenir for our daughter. They didn't have the specific book we wanted, but we were told that a few copies were available in another, larger bookstore, so we followed that lead. The book was there, but not in the edition we were looking for. It didn't matter, though; we simply took it as an opportunity for a longer walk around the city.

Wracając w okolice starego miasta, przeszliśmy pod Arc de Triomf – łukiem wybudowanym jako brama wejściowa na Wystawę Światową w 1888 roku. Dzień zakończyliśmy wieczornym spacerem po Placu Katalońskim. Szkoda będzie jutro odlatywać i wracać do codzienności w Belgii.

[ENG] Returning to the Old Town area, we passed under the Arc de Triomf, an arch built as the main gateway to the 1888 World's Fair. We ended the day with an evening stroll through Plaça de Catalunya. It’s going to be hard to fly back to our everyday life in Belgium tomorrow.
