Journal: Tuesday 22 April 2025

It was a very good day yesterday - worked, then spent a couple of hours starting to sort out the garage. This was mainly removing all the recycling and loading the car, then sorting a few things and sweeping up some of the debris. Mice have been in there through the winter, ripping paper for nests and leaving their dirts.

I'm not sure I've seen them in the garage before, but sometimes there was food waste stored in there, waiting to go to the compost heap, so I guess that attracted them. Anyway, they soon leave for richer pickings when the food is removed!

It was easier when the garage was clearer to see what needs to be cleared for electrical work. Two sides really - the end where the utility area is and the bay window side where the work surface is. So mainly things need to be cleared and stored on the opposite wall. Next job!

Checked the power points and essentially want the same as is currently there - double under counter x 2, double above counter x 2, and extra double further down (not sure what my idea was with that, but why not? Might be good for working with the up and over door open).

Loaded the car to go to the recycling centre when Phil turned up and took it all in his van to Kibworth. They take hardcore there, too, for free, which is good. Finally got rid of the sodden mess that was originally kindling. Ants nested in it and turned the lot to soil, very heavy. I'd put it inside another garden bag, to take it to the tip without dripping through the rotten bottom, but couldn't lift it!

Started to write out a list for Phil to do while I'm away. We're getting there.
