It was blazing at 5pm when I left the air conditioned luxury of the UTC for the heat radiating off the road outside. I set off towards the roundabout only afterwards noticing there were no crossing lights down there. No, they were in the opposite direction:

It looks like I was in the UTC for roughly three hours: very thorough when I did get to see someone, all the obs (observations) done - blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, oxygen in the blood - before both ears were examined. A diagnosis, a prescription and some advice about pain management - mainly using a warm compress, which has worked well so far.

So back into the 29 degrees heat haze outside. I was able to get a bus into town and then walk the remainder to the rail station, passing this fairy door in a cut through on the way:

The train journey was another hour, first to Ramsgate, then changing onto the mainline which took me to this transport hub, destined to bring economic activity and wealth to the area:

As you can see, packed. I haven't been able to find any toilets onsite - I wonder if that is because long-term the station will not be staffed. Not that I found any staff, either, although they are supposed to be onsite between 8am and 6pm. As far as I can see the secure bike store is not in operation either.

It's a bit bleak, this station, a transit halt with only machines. There is barely any shelter, not much fun when it is raining or in cold weather. Perhaps you are not intended to be there long enough to get cold and wet.
