CineTV Contest #22 | | Ford Versus Ferrari

When I was still living with my parents it was a culture whenever we saw a movie, especially a family show, that after seeing the movie or an episode of the show my mom would ask, what did you gain from this movie?. For her every movie should teach you a lesson, it should guide you, and the more movies you watch the better you should be. This was her only reason for allowing us to see a movie. So I grew up with that in mind. Every movie I see teaches me a thing or two about life or motivates me to be a better version of myself.

Ford versus Ferrari was more than just a movie for me, it was a history lesson. I got drawn back into 19th century American lifestyle and also got the tale of how Ford, a company that would have been shut down due to extremely low sales bounced back up and become one of the leading automobile manufacturers that we know today. I picked this movie out of the catalog of sports movies in my head because of how relating it is. Anytime I see a movie and the “Based on True Story” written somewhere I rush in because I know I will learn a thing or two from it or at least talk about it in movie discussions. Another reason is that I love car races. It is so thrilling, I know it comes with a lot of dangers but then the thrill makes me forget all about that.

This movie was a mix of both car racing and drama. The drama aspect made me stick to it understanding the storyline and relating it with what happened with Ford. I think the drama especially the ones between Miles (Christian Bale) and his son, the father-son bond was so nice. I never had a lot of bonding time with my dad and I enjoyed seeing a dad have such a close relationship with his son even if it is just a movie. Then there is the drama between Shelby (Matt Damon) and his boss. A typical Boss and employee relationship until your boss starts telling you to go to war lol. The iconic scene for me was when Shelby took his boss for a ride, I would swear the man almost pissed on himself. I don’t know how the funny scenes always remain in my mind.

Now I don’t want to criticize the Fast and Furious franchise, they did a good job in the production of that movie but one thing that I think makes Ford versus Ferrari stand out is the realness and that was why I preferred doing a post on it rather than the almighty Fast and Furious. So check out this movie and tell me what you think in the comments below or better still, join the contest on the cine TV community using this link.

Enjoy the rest of your week.
