Finding Value with Racing Tournaments

When betting there is normally an edge that you need to overcome to have any real success. If you're betting with a Bookmaker or a Casino there is a built in edge within the markets they offer and generally speaking over the long term - The House Always Wins. These days I am on the lookout for opportunities to have a bet where I think I have an edge AND where I am betting against other Punters rather than against the House. Today I am talking about Racing Tournaments, which I have had success with for many years now.

Not that long ago there was a great Tournament operator here in Australia called TopBetta. I used to play there daily and around 2015-2016 it was not unusual for me to pocket a few thousand dollars in profit every other weekend. Unfortunately they went broke (Oopsie) but there are some similar options available today that I like to dabble with.

One of them is Sport Champs and another is Play Up (who also do Fantasy Sports Tournaments) and the idea is very similar. When you pay your entry fee to the tournament you get some "Play Money" to bet on races and then the tournament operator manages a Leaderboard where you are ranked against other punters.

The top Ranked players on the Leaderboard win money so even if you have a fairly ordinary day picking winners you can still win if the other punters have an ordinary day too. This is very common so the bar is set pretty low and if you know what you're doing it's not too hard to get ahead.

Today is Saturday so there are a heap of Racing Tournaments on offer. I'll be focusing on the Full Card tournaments and maybe having a lash at one or two of the Target tournaments. Good luck if you're having a bet today.

I hope you win some serious cash! It must have been nice winning a couple grand on the weekends, too bad they went broke!

Indeed. I did win a bit yesterday, but nothing like the good old days before TopBetta went broke.
