Went for a walk through the desert wearing my heavy utility belt and backpack to get used to walking with a lot of weight.
Charlie and Shadow the dogs tagged along. Charlie went off exploring nowhere to be seen, but close enough to not lose track of us. Shadow always stays by his human companion's side, which is how he got his name.
Cottonwoods are a sure sign of underground water around here. They stand out from afar in the fall due to their golden leaves.
I found the pawprint of a monster while exploring the spring, and an overgrown thicket which required crawling to pass, so I decided to head home.
I am rewarded for my efforts with delicious apples picked from a local tree.
