¿Quién le coloca el cascabel al dragón? // Who will bell the dragon?

Después de ganar la serie mundial del 2024, Los Dodgers de los Angeles lograron mantener esa esencia de campeón que a muchos fanáticos y conocedores del tema nos dió la razón para creer en algo poco usual para estos deportes de alto nivel, como lo es el de repetir el campeonato en años consecutivos. Lo cierto es que la gerencia hizo su parte, y a través de varias firmas interesantes como la del Pitcher zurdo Blake Snell, de pronto la pretemporada nos trajo expectativas enormes con respecto a lo que sería una campaña soñada.

Record de Victorias y una clasificación fácil y anticipada eran solo una de las consignas que muchos analíticos daban por hecho, pero cuando se trata de béisbol no puedes dar nada por sentado hasta el último out. Por momentos, lo Dodgers parecían un equipo "normal", y ya no asustaba como algunos lo creían. Ciertamente los Dodgers tuvieron que lidiar con problemas de lesiones y otros obstáculos típicos de una temporada tan larga, una en la que tuvimos que esperar prácticamente hasta el mes de septiembre para poder ver juntos a su rotación estelar: Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow y Shohei Ohtani.

After winning the 2024 World Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers managed to maintain that champion spirit that gave many fans and experts reason to believe in something unusual for these high-level sports, such as repeating the championship in consecutive years. The truth is that management did its part, and through several interesting signings, such as left-handed pitcher Blake Snell, the preseason suddenly brought us huge expectations for what would be a dream campaign.

A record number of wins and an easy and early qualification were just some of the predictions that many analysts took for granted, but when it comes to baseball, you can't take anything for granted until the last out. At times, the Dodgers seemed like a "normal" team, and they were no longer as scary as some believed. Certainly, the Dodgers had to deal with injuries and other obstacles typical of such a long season, one in which we had to wait until practically September to see their stellar rotation together: Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, and Shohei Ohtani.

Es aquí donde en el mejor momento los Dodgers han sacado esa imagen que muchos teníamos desde un principio, y ahora da más terror el ver lo que desde el pitcheo abridor han logrado. Cuatro pitchers que fácilmente serían un as de la rotación de cualquier otro equipo, un monstruo de 4 cabezas donde por si fuera poco también emerge la figura de Roki Sasaki. ¿Los resultados? Antes de la postemporada se hablaba mucho de lo difícil que sería enfrentar a unos Phillies de Philadelphia o a los mismísimos Milwaukee Brewers, pero hoy la realidad es que Los Dodgers de los Angeles prácticamente pulverizaron ambas series.

Pienso que Dave Roberts ha sido un factor clave con el staff de abridores, dándole la confianza que estos hombres necesitan para sacar a relucir todo su potencial. Aplaudo lo que ha transmitido al mismo Blake Snell, un pitcher que hasta hace poco no pasaba del quinto inning por una supuesta "tercera vista del lineup"que podría perjudicarlo, pero lo cierto es que el hombre es un verdadero caballo y ya lo ha dejado bien claro. Tampoco me sorprende ver a Yamamoto lanzar un juego completo porque su calidad ya está demostrada para eso y más. ¿Roki Sasaki como cerrador? Un maravilloso descubrimiento que parece regresarle la vitalidad y la confianza a un bullpen que quizás ha sido el talón de Aquiles de esta maquinaria.

This is where, at their best, the Dodgers have lived up to the image that many of us had of them from the start, and now it's even more terrifying to see what they've achieved with their starting pitching. Four pitchers who would easily be aces in any other team's rotation, a four-headed monster from which, as if that weren't enough, the figure of Roki Sasaki also emerges. The results? Before the postseason, there was a lot of talk about how difficult it would be to face the Philadelphia Phillies or the Milwaukee Brewers themselves, but today the reality is that the Los Angeles Dodgers practically pulverized both series.

I think Dave Roberts has been a key factor with the starting staff, giving these men the confidence they need to bring out their full potential. I applaud what he has conveyed to Blake Snell himself, a pitcher who until recently couldn't get past the fifth inning because of a supposed "third look at the lineup" that could hurt him, but the truth is that the man is a real workhorse and has already made that clear. I'm also not surprised to see Yamamoto pitch a complete game because his quality has already been proven for that and more. Roki Sasaki as closer? A wonderful discovery that seems to restore vitality and confidence to a bullpen that has perhaps been the Achilles' heel of this machine.

El núcleo familiar de este equipo se percibe de forma especial, algo difícil de alimentar cuando tienes a muchas estrellas juntas en un mismo dogout. El equipo no solo se ha destacado por el pitcheo, sino que la defensa y el bateo oportuno han estado presentes y con diversos protagonistas. Hoy puede ganarte un juego Teoscar Hernández, y de pronto es Tommy Edman quien da un palo y enciende la fiesta, esto sin tocar todavía a esa gran joya que tienen como lo es Shohei Ohtani. Simplemente no hay adjetivos para abarcar lo que este hombre está haciendo en las grandes ligas, algo en lo que debemos sentirnos privilegiados de poder verlo y disfrutarlo mucho más.

Queda un capítulo más por escribirse, y aún en la espera de Seattle o Toronto, lo cierto es que el vigente campeón luce como un verdadero monstruo de varias cabezas. Obviamente es béisbol y nada puede darse por sentado, pero estos Dodgers de los Angeles lo tienen todo para hacer historia. ¿Podrá alguien ponerle el cascabel a este dragón?

The family core of this team is particularly noticeable, something that is difficult to nurture when you have many stars together in the same dugout. The team has not only excelled in pitching, but also in defense and timely hitting, with various players stepping up to the plate. Today, Teoscar Hernández can win you a game, and suddenly it's Tommy Edman who hits a home run and gets the party started, without even mentioning that great gem they have in Shohei Ohtani. There are simply no adjectives to describe what this man is doing in the major leagues, something we should feel privileged to be able to watch and enjoy even more.

There is one more chapter to be written, and even while waiting for Seattle or Toronto, the truth is that the reigning champion looks like a true monster with several heads. Obviously, it's baseball and nothing can be taken for granted, but these Los Angeles Dodgers have everything it takes to make history. Can anyone bell this dragon?
