My Actifit Report Card: July 12 2020

Planned a few days away south of Sydney. Packed and rolling by 1130 and parked at Seven Mike Beach NP not long after 2.

Grabbed a sandwich for a quick walk to look for orchids. I had been told there were some big colonies of nodding greenhoods but few flowers. Time to test

First orchid find was one spike of pixie caps orchid (acianthus fornicatus). These are at the end of their season. Note the spider web. Did find quite a few big colonies but no more flowers.

Walked further and saw the distinctive back of a cobra greenhood. Front on view shows why it got its English name

Not far from this was a colony of nodding greenhoods in flower complete with raindrops

Found another grandiflora

Not many mushrooms as I guess the base is too sandy. A great first walk for orchids.

We checked in and got organized. Then headed down to the Shoalhaven River.

Great views of the thunderstorm rolling in from the south

Forecast was for lots of rain. It seemed to stay out to sea.

Stopped at the pub or one drink. Only 2nd visit to a pub since lockdown ended. Strange to have all sorts of rules about which doors to use and how wide apart to stand and seated only and no changing of tables. Tables cleaned down after every change of guests.

Temperature dropped hard once sun was gone. Dinner: Bbq steak and sausages with fresh veggies.
