My Actifit Report Card: August 31 2021
A lovely blue sky day and the body is moving. Knees are hurting with all the big hill walking I have been doing.
Did some garden tidy up before I went out.
Plan today was to ride to Lane Cove NP to look for a known orchid. Turned off to walk a different slice to walk back to where I walked a week or so back
Not far down the fire trail access I saw these orchids - always great to visit a new track and to find orchids
A new bud close by
Did the due diligence to photograph the rosette. Then the magic happened
Pollinator arrived as I sat
And then it went inside. I did try to video but no focus possible. Did find another bigger colony with at least 10 flowers open
This is a maroonhood - pterostylis pedunculata
Front on with a mate behind
Followed the Great North Walk which runs high above the Lane Cove River. Quite a few orchid leaves but no flowers
A day for purple - this flower a lot smaller than normal.
View across the river to Macquarie Park offices - seen that view before.
Fab reflections on this little creek not far from where I have walked before from Gloucester Fire Trail
Tracked back from here back over the little creek
I walked all the way up Rudder Creek Fire Trail - no sign of orchids up there with too much runoff from houses
Pea flowers there were
Found another colony of maroonhoods on the track coming back
Pterostylis pedunculata
Different pollinator - small spider
Chose to keep following Great North Walk under the main road - nice views across the river from up high with an interesting flower in the foreground
That flower on the cliff edge
Did find a place to get a close up of said flower
View of the main road bridge over the river. The track passes well below
I did walk further to find an access point from the other side of the main road for the next walk. Then track back and around the underside of the bridge to get back to my bike.
Always good to find orchids on a new track. Nasty hill for the bike ride home.
Dinner: Cottage pie. Also baked banana bread as oven was on.
Trade action: a few covered calls
