My Actifit Report Card: September 6 2021

Back to work Monday for week 2 for my wife has me moving earlier as her day begins. Got out on the bike to go down to National Park to see if the flying duck orchids are out. I had 3 orchid targets to look for. Walked the loop from Bobbin Head in the opposite direction to last time

First stop was the site of two sun orchids. This one survived and is open. The other one was blown over and spike broken

Love the scaled down version of the top flower - thelymitra ixioides

Patersonia iris often found where sun orchids prosper

These are just emerging - no idea of its name

Last week I looked for these and saw no evidence. This week I was hoping and bingo - caladenia carnea - all in a week

Target two was the flying duck orchid - still getting ready and 2nd leaf in picture

Now that I had found the 1st caladenia I was expecting more - known location - first sighting for 2021

A faint blush of pink

Dorsal sepal - the thingy at the back - has not stood up to attention

This bearded orchid is soon open - will be back. Made my way down the regional office side. Did see a bearded orchid on its way there too.

The only thing holding me together through this lockdown bullshit is the orchids and the outdoors. If I can ride and walk I can make believe that I am free.
