New Track: Old Track - Flying Ducks to Savour: My Actifit Report Card: October 24 2021

Another late night and the struggle to get moving does not get any easier. Looked to make the day a little easier - pottered around doing garden stuff. Did go out for a short ride to walk a segment of track in Ku-ring Gai Chase NP my friends suggested. The track had been remade and orchids next to track are gone for now

These are just starting to flower

Saw a spike like this on my local track a few days back - plant has too many leaves for an orchid. Bud has too many flowers

Quite a few of these flowering.

Track was bereft of orchid evidence. I never know what the orchid of the day offerings might be - so a photo of a bearded orchid in seed.

Best to enjoy other offerings. Walked to the end of the trail which joins a road. I turned back and took a side track which runs on one side of the creek

Spider grevillea. Track came onto a fire trail I recognized but was not expecting. Good news - orchids are down there

Flying duck orchid - one of 3 still in flower after two weeks from last visit. Found one more when I was showing them to a lady walker

Close by is a known site for snake orchid - now in flower - high up

Cryptostylis erecta buds around the corner - a while to go. Back to the main track homeward

Saw these buds at the foot of a tree. I am guessing it is a hyacinth orchid with colours different to the two varieties seen in the last few days - maybe dipodium punctatum. I took a GPS reading.

A photo to show the trail work. Track is now 6 meters wide. Drainage cut into high side and residue dumped on downhill side. That is where the orchids grow. This is Ku-ring Gai council work and not National Parks.

I did find a colony of bonnet orchids - and some buds

Pea flower time. Stopped at the nursery to buy lawn weed killer and fertilizer.

I did apply the weed killer before my wife's buddy came to visit for sundowners. We had a great sit outside with a few drinks - started with alcohol free.

I smashed up a quick tapas dinner - one hour from begin to end
