New Track Find - Tongue Orchids : My Actifit Report Card: November 9 2021
A grey day. It did rain overnight again. Happy with that as the spring has been dry. Orchid just beginning to flower at home
Ladies tresses orchid - taken two years to flower after repotting. Jumped on the bike to walk a section of track not walked to date
Walk from Golden Jubilee Oval past the mountain bike park (in the foreground) down onto the fire trail to overlap a section I walked a few weeks ago
Lots of patersonia irises as the track dropped down the escarpment
Council has rebuilt this trail too - all orchids on the edges are gone
A day for yellow
Saw the turn to go up to Cliff Oval. A friend told me there were flying ducks up there
Lots of paths - missed the main one and landed up crossing some interesting rock slopes to get up to the top
A few summer banksia forming up
This one a little further developed. Made it to the top and saw first orchid for the day - seeded bearded orchid
Wandered around the top looking for possibilities
Great views to the north
Rocks and flowering gums
A flash of red with spikes
A little closer to orchid of the day - budding bonnet orchid. I toyed with walking back along the roads rather than dropping down to the fire trail. The road route us level but it is more than twice as long
Good thing I did not. Saw the bonnet orchids high above the path.
No flowers - maybe 5 more days
I found the main track down. It was easier than the one I walked up
Love the detail on this little white spiky flower
The more I photograph stuff in the bush, the more I appreciate stuff still to learn and explore
Found a few more bonnet orchids budding just off the fire trail.
I did see a few orchids budding below the debris that had been dumped off the trail in the trackwork
There is a small trail going down to the creek that has not been rebuilt. I figured there was a chance of orchids - bingo just off the junction - large tongue orchid
Cryptostylis subulata = orchid of the day at last
On the way back up the steep section I saw this hyacinth orchid budding just below the track. There were 5 plants in all flowing down the slope
Filled in another slice of tracks I have not walked. Steep sides are never great for orchids but I did find a few new spots. It is a peaceful place to walk.
Did a little more garden tidy up getting ready to plant some flower seeds.
My wife prepped dinner - bolognese sauce. I did the pasta bits
Late night doing IM stuff - getting ready for Membership Massacre launch.
Trade action: Bought ABN.AS and ADA altcoin.
Last photo - Brazilian walking lily flowered at home. I nicked it from a caravan park in far north Queensland two years ago. It did two weeks in a zip lock bag before going into bark pot. Flowers one day only.
