Ride down Galston Gorge with Orchids on the Top : My Actifit Report Card: December 13 2021

Day started grey but soon burned away to forecast blue. I was able to get out on the bike to see if I could find horned orchids on a road I saw them a few years back. Cycled down to the bottom of Galston Gorge

Context sign - last walk pre-lockdown took me to Fishponds. I have not walked between here and there. Did walk along the creek in the opposite direction for a bit

Stages of flannel flower - centre starts to open up

Then it bursts into a fluff ball to propel the seeds outwards

Summer has been wet. Mushrooms like it

I never know what will be orchid of the day - maybe this seeded bearded orchid

Rode up the gorge to stop on another fire trail to check on a few orchid spots from last visit

Maybe this is orchid of the day - budding hyacinth orchid

This fern opening is special - they are so hard to photograph. Because there are several ferns, camera got happy.

Never tire of these - my orchid group has pissed me off. I am going to widen my focus to other flowers in the bush

Did find an orchid open in a new spot- bonnet orchid

Another track side flower - cryptostylis erecta

Capturing the light on banksia serratum is an art. I hope I got it.

This is what I came to find. Was expecting variegated hyacinth orchid but found it was rose hyacinth orchid

Timing was good with the flowers on top of the spike open and the others drooping

Found the large tongue orchids on the way back close to the bike

Cryptostylis subulata

One more bonnet orchid to round out a freedom tour ride - light works on a tough subject

First time to ride down the gorge for a while. October training worked as the ride up felt easy.

Did a little more garden tidy up.

Dinner: Pasta alfredo.
