Rare Orchid Day : My Actifit Report Card: December 17 2021

Early start to do some trade stuff -report later. Drifted the morning away. Did get out on the bike to check if a specific orchid is keen to open

Large tongue orchid

Spider action

Variegated hyacinth orchid

Ready for action soon

New warning sign telling the staff not to screw up the sensitive environment - like blowing all the leaves off the track onto the endangered species

Those leaves blown off the track edge - the bud is the critically endangered orchid

Eagle eyes found one a little off the track just sticking its head above the leaf litter. There are 20 known sites for this orchid. It is only one in its genus and it is flowering 2 months early.

Brittle midge orchid - genoplesum baueri

This is why I came to look.

And one budding. Close by was the dipodium variegatum

More spider action. I have seen the square webs but not seen the spider

More hyacinth orchids down the hill

Found a nice cluster of bonnet orchids. This is a great spot to ride and walk with a sealed track covering uphill and downhill slices of bush

A little more grass action. Not my scene but a friend likes them and a good subject stands out for a photo

It is shedding bark season

Did some gardening. Cooked dinner too.
